Working closely with project teams, field leadership, clients, and subcontractors, the Manager, EHS will lead safety professionals, champion best practices, and help ensure all work is performed safely, responsibly, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.\n\nWhat You'll Do Here:\n\nTeam with Aecon project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on Aecon project sites.\nPartner with leadership to build and sustain a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, safety committees, recognition programs, behavior-based safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.\nProvide project and site-specific safety training and orientation to workers, owners and clients.\nConduct project audits, inspections, risk assessments, and compliance reviews; identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.\nParticipate in the development and delivery of EHS training programs to ensure employee compliance with safety policies, procedures, and requirements.\nManage OSHA-required programs, recordkeeping, training, reporting, and regulatory inspections.\nDevelop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies, programs, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and workplace safety.\nLiaise with external parties such as EPCs, subcontractors, and the general public as required to minimize risk.\nEnsure subcontractor and worker compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, federal, state, and local regulations and Aecon-related safety materials.\nMonitor and analyze EHS performance metrics, develop action plans, and recommend improvements to enhance safety, environmental performance, and operational effectiveness.\nReview project plans, sites, equipment, and processes before work commences, identifying safety-related risks and mitigating risks prior to mobilization.\nLead emergency preparedness activities, including emergency response planning, evacuation procedures, and drills.\nLead investigations of workplace injuries, near misses, environmental incidents, and property damage events to determine root causes and reduce future risk.\nParticipate in worker compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and injury prevention initiatives.\nProvide guidance, coaching, and support to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding EHS compliance, safety leadership, best practices, and Aecon-related EHS materials.\nOnboard new Aecon Safety Advisors within their regions.\nRepresent Aecon at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\n\nMinimum 10 years’ experience coordinating and managing health and safety for heavy civil infrastructure projects.\nKnowledge of construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).\nBachelor’s degree in a related field.\nHave or attain within six months: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP).\nBackground in training and/or education and experience delivering EHS training programs to individuals and groups.\nIntermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Cority incident management software.\nAbility to communicate with tact and diplomacy.\nExperience working on complex construction projects.\nExceptional organizational, people, and time management skills.\nExcellent meeting and training facilitation skills.\nAdaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment.\nValid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to drive to job sites.\n\nAecon fosters belonging within and across our organization.
