We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our leadership team and help drive the financial success of our project-based organization.Position OverviewThe Assistant Controller will partner closely with the Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvements. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial management within a construction-focused environment, with a strong emphasis on job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and ERP optimization.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys collaborating with operations and project teams while helping shape the future of the finance function.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Controller in managing all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and project accountingLead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reportingReview and approve journal entries, accruals, allocations, and account reconciliationsOversee construction accounting activities, including job costing, retainage, change orders, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognitionPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reportsAnalyze project profitability, backlog, over/under billings, and key operational metricsMaintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP complianceSupervise and mentor accounting team members, providing coaching and professional developmentAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planningSupport external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirementsLead or assist with ERP system enhancements, implementations, and process optimization initiativesPartner with project managers and operations teams to improve financial visibility and project performanceIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalabilityQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field7+ years of progressive accounting experienceConstruction industry accounting experienceStrong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principlesExperience with job costing, WIP reporting, retainage, change orders, and percentage-of-completion accountingAdvanced Excel skillsExperience managing month-end and year-end close processesPrior supervisory or leadership experience.
