Public Health Nurse II - Part Time ($35,322 - $40,891)
Duties: Provides professional public health nursing services using assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation frameworks.Promotes individual, family, and community health through education, counseling, and preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care.Delivers nursing services in homes and clinics, including immunizations, communicable disease control, childhood lead poisoning prevention, adolescent school health, case management for children with special needs, WIC and nutrition education, and family planning services.Assesses client health risks, develops care plans, and applies problem-solving techniques to address identified needs.Collaborates with community members, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to coordinate public health services and referrals.Provides supportive client care through active listening, case management, follow-up, and documentation of interactions and services.Assists in establishing nursing service priorities based on community needs and available resources.Participates in ongoing professional development through conferences, workshops, and continuing education.This description is intended to illustrate the general nature and level of work being performed by persons assigned to this job. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in nursing and registration as a Nurse in the State of Michigan; ORRegistration as a Nurse in the State of Michigan and at least two years of experience in a hospital, clinic, or military healthcare setting, including one year of full-time paid experience in community or public health nursing.Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are also eligible to apply; however, employees licensed as LPNs are compensated one grade lower on the salary schedule. Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation throughout the course of employment.In times of a public health emergency, may be required to report for specialized assigned duties inside or outside of Berrien County. Required Knowledge and Skills: Thorough knowledge of nursing theory, clinical skills, and medical protocols.Working knowledge of state and local public health programs, public health nursing practices, laws, and regulations.Understanding of communicable disease epidemiology, epidemiological investigations, and human growth and development.Ability to identify developmental abnormalities, apply problem-solving techniques, and deliver skilled nursing services.Strong ability to interpret and explain public health laws and procedures.Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, colleagues, agencies, and the public.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
