In this position, you will be responsible for partnering with the site level operations team for your designated site in order to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in Amazon’s processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.\n\nIn this role, you must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the cross functional operations teams, and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. To do so, you must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will also be required to instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals in company EHS policies while assisting the regional teams in incorporating our safety standards at their sites. Your experience working in safety programs and your relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic knowledge in an operations environment will be crucial.\nYou will be responsible for developing a team of safety managers and safety professionals at your designated site. Your teams’ success will depend on your ability to create and execute leadership development plans for your larger team. You must demonstrate your ability to clearly communicate organizational direction through your team. As a senior leader in the WHS organization, you will also be responsible for judging and assessing safety talent to select appropriate bench strength for current and future business needs.\n\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\n\nAct as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.\nProvide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.\nMeasure site performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.\nEnsure safety record keeping and data integrity and provides Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.\nDeliver on-time and quality projects to Operations.\nDeep Dive safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.\nDeep Dive trends and propose action plans to Sr. Leadership on site.\nAudit record keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries to ensure compliance to global safety standards and local regulations.\nAudit the workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.\nManage and mentor the Safety Managers and Safety Associates in your assigned site.\nEngage the Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long-term strategic actions to achieve incident reduction.\nPerform targeted Kaizen events in partnership with the Operations teams based on the risks identified in each task (force, repetition, and awkward postures).\nEnsure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy\nAudit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training.\nReview for effectiveness the deployed safety tools and revise to ensure continual improvement.\nPartner with corporate and other regional field safety personnel to leverage global safety and environmental best practices into NA network standards.\n\nAdditional Job Elements include:\n\nLift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach\nStand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts\nWork in an environment where the noise level varies\nWork in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments)\nContinuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)\nMaintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site\n\nThose that do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain within 3 weeks of start date.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor's degree or equivalent\n7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role\n7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management\nCPR/First Aid Certification\nExperience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment\nWillingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nMaster’s degree preferred\nCertified Safety Professional preferred\nExperience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization\nInterest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation\nPrior experience in a management development training program\nTrack record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff\nDemonstrated experience in developing others into higher levels of responsibility in an organization\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\n\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\n\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
