Service Writer

Job Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Service Writer to join our team. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive services, ensuring that their needs are met with professionalism and expertise. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automotive service management and have excellent communication skills to effectively upsell services and maintain customer satisfaction. Duties Greet customers and assess their automotive service needs. Provide detailed explanations of services and repairs required for vehicles. Utilize your mechanical knowledge to assist in diagnosing issues and recommending appropriate solutions. Prepare accurate service estimates and invoices, ensuring all necessary information is documented. Upsell additional services based on customer needs and vehicle condition. Collaborate with service technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, transactions, and service history. Handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently. Stay updated on automotive repair techniques, including transmissions, brake repair, oil changes, alignments, suspension work, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, auto body repair, air brake systems, and automotive diagnostics. Requirements Previous dealership experience is preferred but not mandatory. Strong background in auto service management or related fields. Proven experience in upselling automotive services. Mechanic experience or familiarity with automotive repair processes is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients. Knowledge of auto estimating and sales practices within the automotive industry. Familiarity with various vehicle maintenance tasks including but not limited to oil changes, brake repairs, alignment adjustments, and transmission work. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly. A strong understanding of automotive systems and components is essential for success in this role.
