The ideal candidate for this role possesses high attention to detail and a depth of knowledge in medical terminology. This role is fully remote with a flexible schedule, allowing you to help shape the future of healthcare from your own workspace!\nResponsibilities:\nWhat you will do:\nAssign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS codes\nAccurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring precision and adherence to documentation\nOversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, where applicable\nChampion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues, facilitating resolution with relevant stakeholders\nUphold an overall 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments\nMaintain a minimum production of 1 chart per hour or site-specific productivity benchmarks\nFoster professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff, while addressing clinical and reimbursement issues\nOccasionally travel for professional development or meetings, if required\nQualifications:\nWhat you will bring to the table:\nA minimum of 3 years of inpatient facility coding experience required\nCCS, RHIT, or RHIA required\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\nLevel 1 trauma facility experience required\n\nBonus points if:\nAssociate or Bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-certified HIM or Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program from AAPC with a preference for CCS\nExperience in computerized encoding and abstracting software\n\nPerks:\nFull Benefits including a 401k Savings Plan\nAccess to 20-24 free CEUs per year, provided by Datavant, to support your continuous professional development\nCompensation for AAPC/AHIMA dues\nCompany-provided equipment including computer, monitor, mouse, etc\nComprehensive training led by a credentialed professional coding manager\nExceptional service-style management and mentorship (we’re in this together!)\n\nTo ensure the safety of patients and staff, many of our clients require post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of various vaccinations such as the flu shot, Tdap, COVID-19, etc. Any requests to be exempted from these requirements will be reviewed by Datavant Human Resources and determined on a case-by-case basis.
