Electrical Project Engineer Consultant

Job Description Location: Gulf Coast Region (Initially Onsite at Industrial Facility with Future Hybrid/Downtown Office Transition Potential)Schedule: 9/80 ScheduleDuration: Renewable 6-Month Assignment with Long-Term Project Potential (2–3+ Years)Requirements: Valid/Current TWIC Card RequiredWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support minor capital and expense projects within a large-scale industrial operations environment. This role will lead electrical scope development and execution from concept through commissioning while supporting complex power distribution, motor control, and industrial infrastructure projects.This is an excellent long-term opportunity for an engineer with strong hands-on project execution experience in oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, refining, or other heavy industrial environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead electrical engineering scope development for capital and maintenance projects from initial concept through startup and project closeout.Develop and manage engineering deliverables including: Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)Load listsEquipment specificationsDatasheetsProtection and control schematicsCable schedules and routing documentationExecute and manage Management of Change (MOC) processes for assigned projects.Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, operations, maintenance, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.Review and approve electrical engineering deliverables, vendor packages, and construction documentation.Perform and/or review electrical system studies including: Load flow studiesShort circuit studiesProtective device coordination studiesArc flash studiesSupport specification, technical evaluation, and procurement of major electrical equipment including: TransformersSwitchgearMCCsLarge motorsVariable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Coordinate field construction activities including installation oversight, contractor coordination, field changes, and issue resolution.Lead commissioning and startup activities including energization planning, checkout procedures, and functional testing.Ensure compliance with applicable electrical and safety standards including: NECIEEEANSINFPA 70EParticipate in HAZOPs, constructability reviews, design reviews, and troubleshooting efforts throughout project execution.Prepare project documentation including reports, turnover packages, and as-built documentation.Required ExperienceStrong experience supporting electrical engineering projects within oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, refining, pipeline, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities.Working knowledge of: High voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) power systemsProtective relaying systemsSEL relaysLarge motor applicationsGrounding and bonding systemsLightning protection systemsExperience supporting construction, commissioning, and startup activities in operating industrial facilities.Proficiency with ETAP or equivalent power system analysis software.Experience using SAP and Microsoft Office tools for project execution and reporting.Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.EducationBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.Preferred BackgroundExperience supporting brownfield or operating facility projects highly preferred.Prior experience coordinating EPC contractors and vendor packages in complex industrial environments.Familiarity with industrial safety procedures, permitting, and regulatory compliance processes.
