The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's engineering and manufacturing facility.This is a full-time position with a full benefit package listed below that includes opportunities for professional growth, direct hire by our customers, and additional opportunities within our own organization.The Electrification Application Engineer supports the application and deployment of power electronics products for electric drive systems, including inverters, DC/DC converters, and battery management systems. This role partners closely with customers and internal teams to provide technical support, documentation, training, analysis, and testing, while assisting with system commissioning and troubleshooting in vehicle and system-level applications. The position requires a strong background in power electronics, motor control, simulation, and lab testing, along with the ability to provide technical guidance, work across diverse teams, and travel as needed to support global electrification programs.Job Responsibilities:Support the application of our power electronics product family for electric drive systems.Support customers through answering questions, creation of documentation, providing training, conducting analysis, and planning and executing testing.Assist in on-site commissioning of new systems and vehicles, including troubleshooting system issues, making recommendations on applicable features and software parameters.Provide technical guidance to other engineers and travel as needed domestically and internationally to accomplish the tasks required of this position.Requirements:Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program3 or more years of experience in Power Electronics product design and/or application, including design and verification methods, manufacturing methods, and 3-phase motor control techniques (Master's Degree candidate experience can be through internships, relevant coursework and/or professional experience)3 or more years of experience working constructively with teams and individuals having diverse skills and different cultural backgrounds3 or more years of experience in the creation and use of design and product documentation such as schematics, bill of materials, installation manuals, design analysis, and reliability predictions3 or more years of experience executing analysis, simulation, and modeling of electric drive components and systems3 or more years of experience conducting in-lab performance testing of components and systemsStrong communications skills (English), including listening, verbal, written and presentationAbility to provide work direction to engineers, students, and techniciansAbility to travel up to 25%, as neededDesired Experience:Power electronics product design experience from concept to productionExperience with 100kW+ power electronic componentsHands-on electrified system/vehicle integration experience, including major components, interfaces, auxiliaries, and lab measurement equipmentVehicle and/or grid-tied power electronics applicationsProficiency with MathCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, and electronic circuit simulation toolsDesigning for harsh environmental specificationsExperience with CAN communications and toolsExperience with microcontroller and Field Programmable Grid Array (FPGA)-based designsPractical familiarity with Electrical Safety and Functional Safety standardsExperience with Siemens/Mentor Graphics or other schematic capture toolsSalary Range: $80,000-$100,000 commensurate with experienceAbout RFA Engineering: RFA Engineering has provided product development and engineering services to industry leading customers since 1943.
