Unity Game Development Instructor (PART-TIME) – Redondo Beach/Torrance

Job Summary theCoderSchool is looking for passionate Unity Coaches to teach the next generation how to build amazing games and experiences! You’ll work with incredible kids and teens, guiding them through the world of Unity and C# while teaching them how to think like real developers. This is a part-time, in-person position with flexible hours based on your schedule. Our typical hours are 2pm–7pm on weekdays and 9am–3pm on Saturdays. You must be available to work in-person at our Torrance/Redondo Beach location. Some sessions may take place at local schools as part of our outreach programs. We provide coach training and emphasize a mentorship approach over a rigid curriculum. Our teaching is project-based, highly creative, and tailored to student interests. Unity is one of our most requested programs, and we need coaches who can bring game dev to life! Responsibilities As a Unity Coach, you'll serve as a mentor and creative guide for students aged 9–18. You’ll help them develop games and experiences using Unity and C#. Your teaching assignments may include: Private and Semi-Private Lessons: One-on-one or small group Unity coaching sessions. These typically focus on game mechanics, storytelling through games, UI/UX, 2D/3D game design, and coding in C#. Group Workshops or Clubs: Lead 5–10 students in themed Unity workshops or after-school game design clubs. School Enrichment Programs & Events: Deliver Unity-based game development experiences in local schools or weekend/summer events. Specialty Camps (Optional): Guide students through week-long game development intensives, culminating in a playable final project. You’ll sharpen your own skills as you break down complex concepts into teachable moments. Requirements What we’re looking for in our Unity Coaches: PASSION. You’re excited about games, game engines, and the creative process of building interactive worlds. Your students should be energized just by being around you! Unity/C# Experience. You’re comfortable with the Unity interface, understand scenes, objects, physics, scripting, prefabs, UI elements, and more. Project-Based Thinking. You know how to guide a student from “idea” to “playable project.” Strong Communication Skills. You can explain concepts clearly and enjoy talking with kids and parents alike. Kid at Heart. You understand how to relate to young learners—and how to keep things fun! Teaching Experience a Big Plus. Prior experience teaching or mentoring kids/teens is highly valued. Bonus Points For: Experience with game art, animation, storytelling, VR/AR, Roblox/Lua, Minecraft modding, or other game dev platforms.
