Survey Technician

Job Description What You'll DoUnder direct supervision, you will:Assist with collecting and analyzing data from deeds, titles, utility records, structural plans, and related documents.Operate survey instruments (such as Leica Robotic Total Stations and GPS equipment) to support boundary, topographic, as-built, subdivision, profile, and existing condition surveys.Support construction compliance verification and field staking activities.Assist with mapping, drafting, and preparation of survey documentation.Generate accurate field notes, photographs, sketches, calculations, and digital files using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, GeoPak, or similar software.Help verify conformance with applicable regulations, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.Maintain strong safety practices in all field operations.Participate in ongoing training and skill development.Uphold professional conduct and KLJ's standards of quality and ethics.What You BringEducationHigh School Diploma required.Technical coursework in surveying, geomatics, or civil technology preferred.Technical AwarenessBasic understanding of land survey principles and practices.Familiarity with survey equipment and field procedures.Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, GeoPak, or similar platforms preferred.Professional StrengthsStrong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.Effective communicator in both technical and non-technical environments.Self-motivated and dependable in outdoor, field-based settings.Comfortable working independently while contributing to a team.Work EnvironmentThis is primarily a field-based position:40+ hours per weekApproximately 80% field / 20% officeOccasional travel depending on project needsField work includes working outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.Employees must be able to:Walk on uneven terrain up to ten miles per dayFrequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 poundsStand, kneel, crouch, and perform physical tasks required for field surveying
