In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to data development and operational stability of the Big Data ecosystems.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nEssential Functions\n\nProvides technical input to feature development plans and concept documents\nUnderstands production and operations issues as they relate to engineering\nConfigures and administers data servers and Hadoop components\nDevelops scalable, extensible solution architectures leveraging contemporary big-data technologies in an evolving operational framework\nAnalyzes existing data structures and recommends improvements\nPartners with team lead to identify technical requirements and alternatives to accomplish projects, leads major incident troubleshooting involving multiple disciplines and develops reliable solutions to complex problems which require ingenuity and creativity\nParticipates in design, code, test, maintenance, enhance and decommission phases throughout software life cycle to contribute technical expertise and to identify issues\nParticipates in and helps guide research POCs, including design, coding, and performance and efficacy measurement\nProvides significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities, facilitates team discussions and plans, and offers innovative suggestions within area of discipline\nDemonstrates broad understanding of Garmin's business model, including various departments and is recognized as an expert in assigned discipline and applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to initiatives\nResearches new technologies and proposes cost effective solutions and contributes input to broader technology solutions outside of discipline\nProvides 24x7 on call support\nQualifications:\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience\nExperience with one or more of the following: Star Schema Modeling, Spark, or Hadoop\nExperience developing SSIS packages or similar technologies to support data integration processes\nExperience tuning and optimizing ETL jobs to perform at scale\nExperience writing complex queries combining data from disparate systems\nExperience with Java, Hadoop and various components\nExperience developing data visualizations\nDemonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively\nDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\nConsistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation/organization\n\nDesired Qualifications\n\nBuilding data models and transformations inside PowerBI\nExperience with real-time streaming technologies such as Kafka\nExperience developing data visualizations using PowerBI\nExperience designing, building, and maintaining star schema models\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
