The primary focus of this role is to perform sorting and scanning operations, including barcode assignment and LIMS data entry. During lower volume periods or as needed, the technician will also support sample opening and preparation. This dual-role position requires high attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nPartners with managers to resolve employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations, recommending and acting upon a course of action.\nSort samples into trays by fluid type and testing category.\nAccurately scan barcodes and assign permanent lab numbers using LIMS.\nIdentify and resolve barcode scanning issues, discrepancies, or errors.\nPrioritize rush and resolved samples for immediate processing.\nPrepare and print lab work orders, tray tags, and color indicators.\nTrack hourly productivity using internal Excel tools.\nPerform sample reordering and appearance adjustments in LIMS as needed.\nReset tray numbers daily and ensure systems are logged out properly at end of shift.\nMaintain clean and organized workstations.\nOpen incoming packages and sort by testing type (Fuel, Coolant, Shell, etc.).\nApply barcodes to both samples and corresponding paperwork.\nIdentify rush samples and prioritize them accordingly.\nHandle non-standard samples (e.g., insufficient postage, defective items) per established procedures.\nPhotograph, document, and report mislabeled or damaged items.\nEnsure all packages received before 3:00 PM are prepped and ready the same day.\nSupport intra-laboratory sample processing and documentation when required.\nFollow all safety protocols including proper handling of Heptane and sharp tools.\n\nSKILLS\nMandatory Requirements\nStrong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.\nBasic computer skills and experience with data entry or barcode systems.\nComfortable with physical tasks including sorting trays and lifting boxes.\nAbility to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\n\nEDUCATION\nMandatory Requirements\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\n\nEXPERIENCE\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrior experience in laboratory, sample processing, or warehouse/logistics environment.\nFamiliarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or similar platforms.\n\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nWork performed at scanning stations, sorting tables, and mail/package areas. Involves moderate physical activity (standing, lifting, repetitive motion).
