The products offered by Atradius protect companies around the world against the default risks associated with selling goods and services on credit.Job DescriptionThe Senior Commercial Underwriter is responsible for leading the structuring, pricing, and execution of complex trade credit insurance programs within the MBNC portfolio. This role requires deep expertise in non-cancelable product design, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to navigate internal governance while delivering tailored solutions to brokers and clients. A balance between premium growth and disciplined risk management is fundamental to the role.In this position your key responsibilities will be:Lead the structuring and pricing of complex MBNC credit insurance transactionsUnderwrite multi-buyer portfolios across industries, incorporating financial, sector, and country risk considerationsDesign bespoke policy structures (e.g., limits, tenors, waiting periods, loss structures, break clauses) aligned with MBNC governancePartner closely with Risk Underwriting teams to assess portfolio quality and obtain required approvalsNavigate and manage internal governance, including approvals for deviations from underwriting guidelinesPresent and defend underwriting proposals to senior management and approval committeesServe as a point of contact for broker partners on key deals and negotiationsDrive deal execution from initial quote through binding, ensuring alignment across all stakeholdersLead or participate in client and broker meetings, including high-value and strategic opportunitiesProvide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support team developmentMonitor portfolio performance and contribute to strategy on renewals, amendments, and risk exposureContribute to product development, wording enhancements, and process improvements within MBNCMaintain strong relationships across commercial, risk, claims, and legal teamsMajor Skills and CompetenciesDeep understanding of trade credit insurance, particularly non-cancelable (MBNC) structuresStrong financial analysis skills, including interpretation of financial statements and portfolio risk dynamicsAdvanced structuring and pricing capability for complex insurance transactionsStrong commercial mindset with the ability to balance growth and riskAbility to operate effectively within governance frameworks and approval structuresExcellent communication and negotiation skills with brokers and senior stakeholdersProven ability to manage multiple complex deals simultaneouslyStrong relationship management skills across internal and external stakeholdersLeadership capability, including mentoring and influencing without direct authorityQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field5–10+ years of experience in trade credit insurance, commercial underwriting, or structured financeProven experience structuring complex or non-standard insurance or credit solutionsStrong understanding of credit risk, portfolio dynamics, and insurance policy structuresExperience working with brokers and managing client-facing negotiationsProficiency in underwriting tools, financial analysis, and Microsoft OfficeExperience with non-cancelable credit insurance productsExposure to multi-buyer portfolio underwritingExperience presenting to senior approval committees or governance forumsWhat Do We Offer?Competitive Salary: $103,000 - $125,000 annually, dependent on experience level with a 10% bonus potential.Paid Time Off: 3 weeks vacation, 8 floating holidays, 6 sick days, maternity and parental leave, office closure holidays.Insurance: Medical and dental plans with shared premiums, Vision, Disability and Life Insurance fully paid by company.Retirement Plan: 401k with 100% company match up to 6% of salary contributions and annual profit share, pre-tax and Roth options.Equal opportunities for allThe success of our organization stands with the quality of our people and the ideas they have.
