And you can too, so bring your energy to ours.As a Telecommunications Specialist IV, you will use your experience and expertise to support the daily operational control of our sophisticated voice and data telecommunications LAN/WAN system. As always, safety is the highest priority!Your work will challenge you, and with our Core Values to guide you, you’ll quickly learn and grow with us.Responsibilities/Expectations:Provides technical expertise and services to support the operation of a large, sophisticated communications networkMaintains field telecom/network equipment (radios, VSAT, fiber, routers, switches, term servers, alarm remotes, cell modems, DC power systems, security cameras/systems, etc.) independently, with assistance from other internal or external support teams as the need arisesProvides reliable and efficient telecommunications and network services to the offices and field sites located across WYCommunicates on a regular basis with Telecom and Network Engineering team regarding network projects, upgrades, and outagesCollaborates with Operations, SCADA, Pipeline Control, Measurement, and other support groups and outside vendors or contractorsInstalls, tests, and maintains all telecom and network equipment located within assigned area of responsibility; Occasionally works outside assigned area to assist other techs, help with projects, and to provide support as neededMaintains and repairs all company owned and leased communications facilities including towers, buildings, and all associated equipment. Tower climbing is performed by contractors, but the responsible Williams tech will ensure safe work practices are followed and quality results are achievedEducation/Years of Experience:Required: High School Diploma/GED, technical/trade school certification or military electronics training and minimum eight (8) years' experience in telecommunications, operations or maintenancePreferred: Associate's or two-year technical school degree in electronics or military electronics training and valid FCC license, telecommunications certificate or licenseOther Requirements: Currently reside or are willing to relocate within 30 miles of assigned location. Ability and willingness to take initiative, work independently and quickly resolve issuesThrives in a team environment and can build partnerships with othersMust possess a valid Driver’s License and good driving recordShould have the capacity to develop work schedules, possess excellent social skills and work with little or no supervisionKnowledge of communications services (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, T1, Wireless, etc.)Preferred: FCC General Radiotelephone Operator licensePreferred: Working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and access pointPreferred: Network certificationsPreferred: Experience in Pipeline Operations, Utilities, or similar industryPhysical and Environment Work Requirements:Must be willing to:Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spacesCarry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as neededStand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of timeWork at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)Use hand toolsMust be experienced in trailering equipment such as SnoCats, portable generator sets and/or other type of small machinesShift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:Must be available for 24-hour call-out and to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holidays as the need arisesMust be willing to travel daily using company provided vehicle; Overnight travel will occasionally be necessary, Responsible for the most complex testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications devices, lines, modems, and terminals). Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network resources. Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance. May function in a lead capacity within the department. Provides guidance and direction for less-experienced Network Control Technicians.
