The focus is on candidates with solid firmware and embedded systems experience, while some web development exposure is preferred.Salary Range: $100k-110K/annum + Benefits; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.Purpose & Responsibilities:The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for new product development projects and the processes that bring them to fruition.A Senior Software Engineer takes ownership of the full software life cycle from concept capture through end-of-life deprecation.Planning and process monitoring throughout the software life cycle are integral to the position’s responsibilities, as are specification, coding, testing and QA/QC of product.In addition to product development, a successful Senior Software Engineer acts as a role model and mentor for junior-level engineers, helping in guiding both their day-to-day contributions and their professional growth.Embedded real-time software systems, communications, embedded databases, and human interfaces are all aspects of core competency in software engineering.The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to this broad range of software engineering disciplines. Excellence in customer communication is paramount to success in this role.Primary Duties:Work with customers, both within end users, to define and capture requirementsUse state of the art software techniques to design applications for new productsTake ownership of and maintain existing software subsystemsDirectly contribute to the addition of new features and bug fixes to new and existing systemsDevelop in-depth understanding of complex SoC, DSP, FPGA, and similar componentsDevelop testing strategies for complex, configurable applicationsManage product life-cycle trajectoryParticipate in software code reviews via on-line toolsEnhance the new product development processMentor junior-level engineersExperience, Skills & Education:Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Computer Engineering, Master of Science in Computer Science, or Ph.D. in the above disciplines – Highly DesiredA minimum of 8 years of success in full software lifecycle development from concept capture through end-of-life – RequiredIn-depth knowledge of C/C++ programming – RequiredIn-depth knowledge of operating systems, Linux, drivers, memory, processes, etc. – RequiredIn-depth knowledge of database tools such as MySQL – RequiredWorking knowledge of web interface tools such as PHP, JavaScript, etc. – RequiredWorking knowledge of scripting languages, e.g., Python, Bash, etc. – RequiredPractical skill in design and construction of useful, real-world items – RequiredHands-on experience in embedded real-time software development with embedded Linux or other embedded OS – RequiredSuccess with integrated hardware/software co-design – DesiredExperience with embedded Linux build frameworks such as Yocto or Buildroot – DesiredExperience with TCP/IP networking and industrial data communication protocols such as MODBUS/TCP, BACnet, and SNMP – DesiredExpertise with project management and defect management tools – DesiredExperience with Windows and Linux application development – DesiredEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Benefits offerings include but are not limited to:Benefits (401K, PTO, perks, etc) To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please visit https://www.akkodis.com/en/privacy-policy.
