We lead some of the most impactful infrastructure projets of our generation, at the forefront of transformational change in infrastructure and energy, and partnering every day to build, connect, power, and strengthen our communities.\r\nWe are currently seeking a Director, EHS Programs and Performance within our Utilities sector in the U.S. Reporting to the Sr. EHS Director, you will lead our EHS team across the U.S. for Utilities, working closely with operational and project leadership.\r\nWhat You'll Do Here:\r\n\r\nLead and align a team of Operational EHS direct reports in a growing business to EHS' strategic intent by focusing the teams' activities and holding each individual accountable for results\r\nWorks with Operations Leadership to ensure adequate EHS resources are in place as business continues to expand in the US\r\nDrives consistent implementation of Aecon EHS strategy, vision, programs, policies and initiatives across operational sector / project(s)\r\nMonitor and report on EHS performance to operational leadership, inform corrective strategies.\r\nMaintain a pulse on EHS related concerns or developments and provide pragmatic and timely solutions to address issues that impact the attainment of business objectives\r\nAbility to contribute to and communicate a companywide long-term vision and a strategy to achieve short, medium and long-term goals.\r\nEnsures Aecon EHS Program is successfully implemented on all US-based projects. Work with senior management to continuously improve Aecon's Health and Safety Programs.\r\nAssist and support with the development of site-specific safety training and orientation of workers, supervisors, staff, subcontractors and clients.\r\nEnsures site-specific EHS documentation and plans are in place before work commences, with risk and mitigation strategies defined.\r\nLiaise with external parties such as regulatory agencies, government inspectors, sub-contractors, and general public.\r\nRepresent the Company at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters.\r\nAbility to develop and maintain a network of industry-wide contacts.\r\nMentor project leadership in the requirements of conventional safety procedures.\r\nWalkdown jobsite performing audits and inspections and ensure key programs are implemented and controls are in place as per Aecon requirements and Site-specific EHS Management Plan. Review and audit applicable EHS documentation.\r\nAbility to lead and/or oversee major incident investigations.\r\nDevelop and deliver presentations to management, workers, sub-contractors, and clients.\r\nMentor and coach project management, craft and supervision in the field with regards to safety roles and responsibilities and compliance with safety standards.\r\nSupport proposal development, as required.\r\nMaintain and update EHS Program Procedures, as required.\r\n\r\nWhat You Bring to the Team\r\n\r\nMinimum 5 years' experience coordinating and managing health and safety for construction operations\r\nPrevious experience in a leadership role required\r\nDemonstrated ability to oversee and lead multiple personnel over large geographic areas.\r\nHighly self-motivated team player with a participative management style and strong interpersonal skills.\r\nAbility to identify training gaps; generate effective solutions; and provide recommendations for improvement.\r\nA Team Player that accepts and can manage change regularly\r\nKnowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of US EHS legal requirements including OSHA regulations and legislations required\r\nRelevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Environment, Health and Safety field\r\nData fluency (dashboards, trend analysis) and facilitation skills across crews, supervision, and management.\r\nDemonstrated ability to stand-up a rigorous EHS Program on new projects.\r\nExcellent knowledge of EHS Management Systems and their implementation.\r\nUnderstanding of OSHA 1904 Recordkeeping, Case Management, Workers Compensation Insurance requirements, and return to work program\r\nAbility to communicate with tact and diplomacy, excellent verbal, and written communication skills\r\nExceptional organizational and time management skills\r\nExcellent meeting and training facilitation\r\nAdaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment\r\nExperience working in a unionized or non-unionized environment\r\nIncident Investigation training/experience considered an asset\r\nAbility to travel extensively, as required\r\n\r\nAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.  We consider all applicants for positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, mental or physical disabilities, veteran status, and all other characteristics protected by law.\r\nWe are committed to adhering to the objectives and requirements outlined in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and to meeting the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities in a timely manner, through the implementation of the requirements of the EEOC and its applicable regulations.
