Assists workers by performing general labor operations in the positions of Helper, Rack Person, Hook-Up, and Loader and supports operators as needed.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nFacilitates set up activities as requested by operator.\nAssist Operators pulling heaters after stoppages.\nPut pieces back on the line at line loaders.\nEmpty trash containers in Forge and Steel Buildings.\nAssist crane operators hooking up and clearing pit jams.\nGuides the completed 1st end from take-away conveyor to the rack.\nSwitches exit ends on the conveyor when racks are full.\nVerifies all bundles have tags with part and heat codes.\nMaintains all wood in the steel buildings. Ensures that it is organized and stacked safely.\nMaintains all bins and floor free of loose wood and debris.\nLoads the coater and the press rack.\nOperates the pallet conveyor to bring a full skid into position when one has been emptied without stopping the press or letting it run with empty passes.\nLoads cycle push buttons.\nWatches for heat changes and ensures that heats are not mixed. Inform the Operator or Foreman when one is about to occur.\nVerifies that the pallet of material has a Green accept tag before loading into the coater. Notifies the Operator or Foreman if no Green accept tag is found.\nWatches for material conditions that are not suited to run through the coater and informs the Operator, i.e. rust, oil or any other contamination that may occur\nRuns sonic reject pieces during periods of downtime and at the end of the job.\nOther Duties as Assigned\nRequirements\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\nThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.\nEducation and/or Experience:\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.\nOne to three months related experience and/or training preferred.\nKey Competencies\nCommunication Skills:\nAbility to read and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.\nAbility to effectively report data and job specific information as needed.\nMathematical Skills:\nAbility to understand and perform intermediate mathematics including but not limited to proportions, physics, algebra and geometry.\nAbility to read a tape measure and other length gauges\nComputer Skills:\nComfortability with digital tools, scales and calibration systems\nConfidence with\ndigital self-service platforms, emails, and time clocks\nExperience with Plex is ideal but not required\nAdditional Preferred Skills and Qualifications:\nSolid mechanical aptitude.\nAbility to train on and/ or operate a crane\nPhysical Demands:\nFrequent use hands or fingers to handle, inspect, clean and audit equipment.\nStand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts\nUse carts, dollies, cranes and jacks to transport material if needed\nClimbing ladders and stairs to reach work at potential heights of 30ft or more\nNavigate narrow walkways, confined spaces and overhead mezzanines\nTolerate potentially extreme temperature fluctuations impacted by weather and machinery\nAcclimate to high noise and vibration levels in workspaces\nWear and adhere to all PPE guidelines including hard hats, protective eye wear, ear plugs, and approved footwear with metatarsal and steel toe safeguards.\nLift and /or move up to 50 pounds\nBenefits:\nCompany-matched 401(k) program\nRobust wellness program promoting a healthy lifestyle and work-life balance\nComprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance\nCompetitive hourly wage\nPaid time off\nWork Environment:\nThe Utility person may work throughout all departments in our facility and will frequently interact with historic machinery which often involves close proximity to heat, noise, debris, conveyance systems and other potentially dangerous equipment.
