Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.\n\nThe Learning to Work (LTW) for Transfer Schools Program will provide services to students, ages 15-21 that are over-aged for grade, under-credited, and have spent at least one year in another high school to earn a high school diploma and gain valuable vocational and life skills supports. Using the Primary Person Model, each student will have a Young Adult Career Advisor who will: guide students towards removing barriers toward graduation, engage students in college preparatory activities, provide supportive services, and increase self-direction and self-sufficiency through meaningful career exploration experiences, including subsidized internship placements for 20% of the student population.\n\nPosition: Internship Developer\nReports To: Supervisor II\nLocation: Assigned LTW location\nWhat Does an Internship Developer Do:\n\nMaintain professional relationships with students and student confidentiality.\n\nDevelop, create and/or request internship and job opportunities for students (obtain as much information on the position as possible).\n\nResearch and maintain accurate contact data for all existing and prospective employer/Internship contact information.\n\nRegularly initiate contact with potential employers that are seeking interns in the NY Metro area.\n\nMarket CAMBA's internship placement services to new and existing employers.\n\nBuild and maintain a list of internship openings in various industries.\n\nShare internship openings with other internship developers in the internship shared database system, if you are unable to fill position.\n\nIdentify students who meet the qualifications for open positions.\n\nMatch students to internships based on their qualifications.\n\nInform students of the job duties, responsibilities and all appropriate details regarding open positions.\n\nReview students' resumes to ensure professionalism and accuracy and send resumes to potential employers.\n\nSchedule interviews and coordinate between student and hiring manager.\n\nPrepare students for interviews with specific employers including conducting mock interviews.\n\nFacilitate Job Readiness Seminars, pre-placement orientations, and other workshops as needed.\n\nRequest feedback from employers regarding students’ interview.\n\nCollect LTW Agreement Forms for each student.\n\nCollect and send all new hire paperwork for each student to Human Resources Department.\n\nEnter student’s internship start/end dates and internship hours worked into database (such as Client Track).\n\nMake bi-weekly phone calls to employers to ensure that CAMBA's students are satisfactory employees, to resolve problems that may interfere with performance, and to encourage employers to call CAMBA if a problem should arise.\n\nCreate narrative case notes regarding student progress at each point of contact using Client Track.\n\nUpdate Internship bulletin board bi-monthly using creative and innovative methods.\n\nFollow-up with students after interviews to get feedback and establish next steps.\n\nOnce a student is hired, periodically request documentation to verify placement and retention.\n\nCreate internship timesheet vouchers and submit voucher to payroll bi-weekly.\n\nVisit each internship site at least one time per month to ensure that interns are satisfactory employees.\n\nParticipate in case conferences with program staff and students regarding student progress.\n\nProvide ongoing communication with Young Adult Career Advisors concerning students.\n\nProvide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.\n\nMay update student information (resumes sent, interviews, employment, and retention) in computerized student tracking systems.\n\nMay interview students to evaluate work history, skills, education, training, compensation needs, and other qualifications.\n\nTasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over time.\n\nEducation, Licenses and/or Certifications Required:\n\nBachelor’s Degree and applicable experience.\n\nSkills Required:\n\nAbility to adapt to the culture and environment of a public school.\n\nAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from employers, students, funders, other organizations, and the general public. Ability to model the interviewing/presentation skills that students are expected to emulate.\n\nAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, decimals and percentages to practical situations.\n\nAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.\n\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software.\n\nMay have team and/or other coordination responsibility, but no consistent supervisory responsibility\n\nPre and/or Post Employment Requirements:\n\nMust obtain Dept. of Education fingerprint clearance.\n\nAbility to maintain fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.\n\nCompensation:\n$27.00 hourly\n\nStatus:\nFull-time/ Temporary (35 hours per week)\n\nCAMBA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
