Also, note that while our current office is located in Evanston, IL, we plan to relocate to downtown Chicago later this year when our current lease ends.\nWhat You'll Do\nHelp build a new software platform from the ground up, working alongside our engineering team and leveraging open-source tools and frameworks where possible\nContribute to architecture decisions: help evaluate what we have, identify gaps, and shape the technical foundations as we scale\nBuild and maintain full-stack features across our React frontend and FastAPI backend\nIntegrate AI/ML model outputs into the product in a clean, reliable, and user-friendly way\nWork with our AWS infrastructure (ECS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront) and help evolve it as the product grows\nHelp maintain and improve our CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and system monitoring\nDesign and evolve our data models to keep them structured, performant, and scalable\nHelp build feedback mechanisms that let us learn from customer usage and iterate quickly\nCollaborate with the team on technical decisions and tradeoffs\nWhat We're Looking For\nBS with industry experience, or MS with industry experience\n3 to 6 years of full-stack development experience (frontend and backend)\nComfort working in AWS: deploying applications, debugging issues in production, and understanding common services (compute, storage, networking)\nExperience building features end-to-end, from API design through frontend implementation\nSolid grasp of API design and integration patterns (REST, async jobs, streaming)\nDatabase experience with NoSQL (DynamoDB or similar); familiarity with SQL is a plus\nExperience integrating AI/ML model outputs into production software (consuming APIs, handling streaming responses, designing UIs around model outputs, not building models)\nWorking knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and basic monitoring\nExperience building interfaces that visualize complex technical or scientific data, such as engineering models or simulation outputs\nExcited and comfortable working in a fast-moving, early-stage startup environment\nNice-to-Have\nExperience at an early-stage or greenfield startup\nFamiliarity with engineering simulation, CAD, FEA, CFD, or scientific computing environments\nInfrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)\nStrong product instincts: you think about how end users experience what you build\nExperience building customer feedback loops into a product\nCompensation & Benefits\nBase salary: $100,000 to $150,000 depending on experience and fit\nEquity included, with a standard 4-year vest and 1-year cliff\nHealthcare offering: wellness stipend of $600/month (individual) or $1,200/month (family)\n401(k) with Safe Harbor matching\nWork Authorization\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
