This dual role combines direct instruction with specialized program management to ensure our Graduation Candidates (GCs) who are Multilingual Learners (MLs) receive appropriate support, assessment, and instructional accommodations in accordance with state and federal requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesEnrollmentSupport new GC enrollment through recruitment and engagement effortsAssist with the development of Personalized Learning Plans for GCsCreate a welcoming environment for MLs and their familiesAcademicsPlan and deliver content area instruction in individual and group settingsIf certified in a content area, may be asked to serve as the teacher of record to address high school graduation requirements for studentsMonitor GC progress toward course completion and content masteryConduct formative and summative assessments to gauge GC academic progressDemonstrate skills in analyzing and using data for instructional decision-makingApply knowledge of IEP, ESE, and ELL accommodationsDocument assistance with annual goals, short-term objectives, benchmarksParticipate in appropriate meetings for ML studentsProvide remediation and enrichment opportunities for individual and groups of GCsParticipate in the development and success of GC data meetings, Professional Development workshops, and other school/community eventsAdvocacyWork closely with the GC support team to develop learning pathways, behavior, and transition plansDevelop incentives to improve GC academic achievementParticipate in academy meetings and other community eventsPerform other related duties as assignedML Program ManagementComplete all required WIDA training modules and certifications annuallyMaintain WIDA Secure Portal access and complete the annual Non-Disclosure User AgreementCoordinate WIDA AMS (DRC) access for staff who complete required trainingML Student Identification and SupportProcess Enrollment Surveys to identify potential ML studentsScreen potential ML students using South Carolina-approved English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessmentsComplete screening within the required timeframes:○ 30 calendar days of enrollment at the start of the school year○ 14 calendar days for students who enroll after the start of the school yearEnter student screener scores in EllevationCreate parent notification letters in the MLP platformEnter the required 30-day parent notification date in PowerSchoolDocumentation and ComplianceCreate and maintain Individualized Language Acquisition Plans (ILAPs) for all ML studentsUpdate the MLP tab in PowerSchool with accurate information including:○ English Language Proficiency codes○ Program Service Delivery Models○ First Record of MLP Services date○ Parent notification datesObtain and document all stakeholders' signatures for ILAPsProcess parent waivers when applicable while ensuring students still participate in required assessmentsCoordinate the annual ACCESS for ELLs and ALT ACCESS for ELLs assessmentsFamily and Community EngagementMaintain communication with ML families in their preferred languageProvide resources to ML families and ensure they understand their rightsCoordinate translation and interpretation services as neededWhat We’re Looking ForEducation: Bachelor’s degree required, Master's preferredLicensure: A South Carolina teaching certification with an ESOL endorsement (REQUIRED)Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred)Skills: Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skillsPassion: A deep commitment to helping at-risk youth succeed academically and personallyPreferred QualificationsExperience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settingsBilingual (Spanish preferred)Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and alternative education modelsExperience with competency-based learning, instructional coaching, or project-based educationStrong comfort with educational technology tools and platformsWhy Join Us?Being part of Acceleration Academies means joining a team that’s dedicated to transforming student outcomes.
