Okta is growing at an accelerated pace and we need a health and safety professional who can develop, implement, and drive effective, scalable solutions that keep our people safe wherever they choose to work.\nThe ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading innovative global health and safety programs, be effective at building relationships, influencing and inspiring change, and enjoy the challenge of working in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nSupport the business as the subject matter expert on Health and Safety requirements and best practices, both strategically and tactically.\nImplement a Global Health and Safety Program that fosters a safety-conscious culture within the workforce, reduces hazards, ensures preparedness, and maintains regulatory compliance.\nDevelop and execute effective plans and strategies for illness and injury prevention, project and construction safety management, pandemic and infectious disease mitigation, travel and event safety, and work-from-home risk management.\nCollaborate with Project Managers to ensure that health and safety activities are effectively integrated into project plans.\nCreate an innovative training program that educates and empowers employees to work safely from anywhere.\nManage all aspects of Okta’s Emergency Response and Preparedness Program.\nPartner closely with Okta’s Workplace leaders and managers to effectively implement H&S controls and initiatives across the organization.\nOwn H&S vendor management, ensuring practical vendor execution that is efficient, effective, and within budget.\nEnsure Okta’s Global H&S standards meet or surpass regulatory requirements.\nBuild strong partnerships and trust that promote H&S participation and adoption across the company.\nInvestigate reports of incidents and hazards, apply effective corrective actions, and meet all applicable governmental reporting requirements.\nEstablish relevant controls to measure H&S program performance, employee compliance, and take corrective action as needed.\nOrganize and lead site inspections and audits to assess risk and compliance, identify issues, and recommend corrective measures.\nPrepare and deliver professional reports and briefings suitable for executive audiences.\nManage Okta's workers' compensation program, including claim reporting, communication with adjusters and medical providers, return-to-work initiatives, and compliance with all relevant regulations.\nManage Okta’s Ergonomics Program.\nOrganize, support, and guide Okta’s cross-functional H&S committee.\nPlan and oversee the annual Health and Safety (H&S) budget, ensuring fiscal compliance.\nDomestic and international travel may be necessary.\nWhat you’ll bring to the role\nBachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, degree in a similar related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n6+ years of increasing responsibilities in managing environmental, health and safety programs, with preference to managing H&S programs at global scale.\nCertification from an accredited health and safety related organization.\nStrong background in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001.\nDemonstrated project management experience.\nAdvanced skills with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace or similar applications.\nDetail oriented and a strong process developer/writer.\nHighly effective communication skills, this role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to negotiate, and communicate in a manner that positively influences stakeholders, garners support and inspires action.\nLI-Hybrid\nLI-CM2\nThe annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:\n$106,000--$158,000 USD\nBelow is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
