We are looking for an individual with strong CAD skills (including surfacing) and relevant work experience in the manufacturing of tools and molds. Our main focus is on composite tooling, but general tool design experience will work. Our engineers see most of their projects through from the very beginning to shipping products out the door.\nPlease note, there are few businesses in the world who do what we do, training will be provided on all the specifics of our Additive Manufacturing design process. An experienced tool designer should be able to hit the ground fast with relative ease.\nDuties\nDesign tools and molds from solid or surface files in 3D CAD.\nPrepare design files for printing (slicing).\nCreate estimates and project quotes/proposals.\nProject & Program management- see your projects through from start to finish. Interface with customers, suppliers, and co-workers for the successful completion of each project.\nFollow and improve internal quality management systems.\nAssemble molds - assist with applying adhesives, designing mechanical bonding strategies, installing inserts, vacuum ports and lines, etc.\nConduct quality assurance - checking vacuum integrity, laser scanning (sometimes performed off-site).\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.\nProficiency in CAD surfacing and parametric modeling (CATIA and Autodesk Inventor).\nExperience in the manufacturing of tools and molds.\nMetrology/quality experience (laser scanning, probing, GD&T).\nGeneral composite knowledge (tooling, vacuum bagging, materials/resins, etc.).\nProblem solving skills to analyze problems and develop effective solutions.\nCross-functional collaboration skills to communicate with machinists, quality, engineers and managers.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.\nWork Environment\nCombination of office (75%), manufacturing floor assistance (20%), and potential customer visits, trade shows, and conferences (5%).\nWhat we offer\nIn addition to competitive pay, AES offers comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans, highly competitive PTO plans, Traditional and Roth 401(k) plans with company match, and paid holidays.\nEqual Employment Opportunity\nAES provides equal employment opportunity for applicants, without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.\nPay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year\nBenefits:\n401(k) matching\nDental insurance\nFlexible spending account\nHealth insurance\nLife insurance\nPaid time off\nParental leave\nVision insurance\nApplication Question(s):\nThis position requires access to technologies and hardware subject to U.S. national security-based export control requirements.
