The university’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is reflected in its institutional values.\n\nEssential Duties\nThe Maxwell Library seeks an innovative, service-oriented Systems and Technology Librarian to develop, manage, document, and troubleshoot the library’s web site and core library systems. The incumbent will administer, implement, and maintain all library systems, including Koha ILS, the library website (redesign underway), Springshare LibApps, and ILLiad interlibrary loan system, and any new applications adopted or developed.\n\nAdminister and maintain the library’s core systems and ensure interoperability.\n\nCollaborate with librarians and staff to support and troubleshoot other library applications and investigate and implement new technologies.\n\nWork closely with the library staff and vendors on a full redesign of the Maxwell Library’s website.\n\nProvide technical expertise and support for traditional and emerging library hardware and software solutions and standards.\n\nProvide library systems support to library colleagues and respond to library systems–related needs across library units.\n\nCollaborate with the IT department to ensure compliance with institutional IT policies and security standards, while independently managing and resolving all library-specific IT issues.\n\nServe as a point of contact for library systems and emerging technology vendors.\n\nProvide written reports, assessments, analyses, and documentation as needed.\n\nAdvise, train, and teach staff, faculty, and students in emerging library technologies.\n\nParticipate in orientation programs and information literacy efforts.\n\nAssist faculty research by providing guidance in discovering and using relevant library resources.\n\nAttend university functions such as annual faculty meetings, convocations, and commencement.\n\nEngage in professional activities, continuing scholarship, and serve on University-wide committees to satisfy promotion and tenure requirements.\n\nParticipate in library consortia and cooperatives.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nMaster’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution.\n\nRelevant experience in an academic, large public, or special library.\n\nFamiliarity with library operations, procedures, and best practices.\n\nDemonstrated experience using a wide variety of integrated library system platforms and applications, and current library-related hardware and software.\n\nUnderstanding of library security and authentication systems and practices.\n\nUnderstanding of networking, including cloud-based server technology.\n\nWeb application programming experience (HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript).\n\nFamiliarity with database reporting standards.\n\nAbility to work independently and effectively in a team setting.\n\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nKnowledge of EZProxy or another access authentication software.\n\nExperience with Koha ILS and Springshare’s LibApps.\n\nSecond master’s degree in a related discipline (required for promotion beyond Associate Librarian rank).\n\nTwo years’ experience in an academic library setting.\n\nDemonstrated ability to support an inclusive educational and work environment.\n\nExperience with website design and hosting platforms such as WordPress or Drupal.\n\nStrong analytical and critical thinking skills.\n\nSpecial Conditions for Eligibility\nEmployment is contingent upon a successful background check.
