Senior Accountant - Real Estate & Property Management

Position SummaryCentral Ohio Warehouse, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate entities. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, managing month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and supervising Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in real estate accounting, property-level financial reporting, tenant accounting, CAM reconciliations, and multi-entity accounting environments.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & General Accounting·        Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.·        Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.·        Review monthly bank reconciliations and ensure supporting schedules reconcile·        Prepare monthly income and expense statements for management review.Month-End & Year-End Close·        Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.·        Coordinate closing schedules and ensure timely completion of all accounting activities.·        Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances across multiple entities.·        Review and maintain supporting documentation for all balance sheet accounts.·        Assist with year-end tax and audit preparation.Real Estate & Property Accounting·        Manage tenant ledgers and rent billing activities.·        Prepare and review Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations.·        Maintain security deposit accounting and related reporting.·        Review rent rolls for accuracy and completeness.·        Prepare property-level financial statements and variance analyses.·        Support lease administration and accounting activities.·        Ensure accurate allocation of expenses across properties and entities.Audit, Controls & Process Improvement·        Serve as accounting liaison for external auditors.·        Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.·        Document accounting processes and implement best practices.·        Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and workflow automation.Leadership & Team Management·        Supervise and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable personnel.·        Review work completed by accounting staff for accuracy and timeliness.·        Assist with training, development, and performance management of accounting team members.·        Collaborate with operations, property management, and leadership teams.QualificationsRequired·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.·        5+ years of progressive accounting experience.·        Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.·        Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close.·        Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.·        Experience managing multiple entities and intercompany transactions.·        Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.·        Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.Preferred·        Commercial real estate or property management accounting experience.·        Experience with CAM reconciliations, tenant accounting, rent rolls, and lease administration.·        Experience with accounting/ERP software and property management systems.
