Java Backend Developer

Job Title: Cloud EngineerLocation: Westminster, CODuration: Temp to hire - 5 months Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cloud services, microservices, event-driven architectures, and Java/Spring and a proven ability to lead architecture and development efforts that integrate Job Site and Back Office systems, mentor engineers, and deliver resilient, scalable services.Responsibilities:Provide leadership across data, services, and service orchestration.Apply event-driven data flow principles between systems.Lead cloud services development and guide adoption of new technologies.Design, document, and develop APIs using a microservice architecture for IoT devices and end-user applications.Develop and troubleshoot cloud services for data ingestion, transformation, and storage.Consume cloud API endpoints to develop web-based user interfaces.Implement cloud-to-cloud integrations using cloud APIs.Participate in code reviews and collaborative design sessions.Execute unit and system testing to verify software changes.Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to test solutions in live construction sites.Foster teamwork and best practices for collaboration.Mentor junior engineers to develop their skills.Required Skills & Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.8+ years developing backend services, SaaS/APIs, and RESTful web services.Experience with server and serverless infrastructure and DevSecOps practices.Strong proficiency in Java and Spring, using Maven or Gradle.Experience developing cloud-agnostic and cloud-native services.Ability to design generic, extensible services and APIs.Background in microservices, streaming, or event-based architecture and scalable big data approaches.Experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS or Azure.Experience with Agile methodology and continuous delivery.Familiarity with IoT protocols such as MQTT or DDS.Experience working across divisions to build cloud-to-cloud integrations with clean API interfaces.Preferred Skills:Experience with OpenAPI or AsyncAPI.Linux command line and utilities.Python.NoSQL, relational, and time-series databases.Atlassian toolchain.
