Follow us: @NovaSkyStories\nAbout the job As the Director, Global Flight Operations at Nova Sky Stories, you will lead and scale flight operations for drone light shows performed around the world. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality execution across diverse regulatory environments, requiring deep expertise in multi-jurisdiction permitting and aviation oversight.\nYou will work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and creative teams to translate complex show concepts into precise, executable flight operations—balancing strict aviation requirements with the creative demands of large-scale aerial performances.\nAs a Director, Global Flight Operations, you\\’ll be responsible for:\nLead and develop a global team of pilots and regional leads\nPartner cross-functionally with engineering, product, production, and commercial teams\nCollaborate with external partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies to support operations\nStrategy & Operational Leadership\nDefine and execute a global flight operations strategy to support safe, compliant, and scalable drone light show operations\nDevelop and manage budgets, forecasting resources to support growth and efficiency\nAlign flight operations capabilities with business goals, including new market expansion and large-scale productions\nGlobal Operations & Execution\nOversee end-to-end planning and execution of drone light show operations across all regions\nEnsure consistency, performance, and operational excellence across all deployments\nMaintain operational readiness, including equipment, systems, and field execution standards\nLead post-show reviews and continuous improvement of operational performance\nBuild and standardize scalable workflows, processes, and operational frameworks across regions\nTrack and improve key performance metrics to drive efficiency and reliability\nDevelop and maintain SOPs, flight manuals, and operational documentation\nRegulatory & Compliance Oversight\nEnsure global compliance with aviation authorities (FAA, EASA, and others)\nLead permitting strategies and secure approvals across multiple jurisdictions\nEstablish and maintain operational standards, certifications, and insurance requirements\nRepresent the company in regulatory discussions and support evolving policy development\nSafety & Risk Management\nOwn and evolve the Safety Management System (SMS)\nEstablish and enforce safety standards, risk assessments, and emergency procedures\nPromote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement\nPartner with engineering and product teams to test and implement new technologies and tools\nIdentify opportunities to enhance automation, workflows, and operational efficiency\nSupport innovation in flight systems, deployment, and show execution\nYou’ll need to have:\nExtensive experience in aviation or UAS operations, including leadership in complex environments\nStrong knowledge of aviation regulations\nProven ability to scale operations across multiple regions or markets\nExperience developing SOPs, flight manuals, and operational frameworks\nHands-on experience with UAS flight operations\nStrong leadership and team-building skills across distributed teams\nAbility to balance safety, compliance, and operational efficiency\nStrategic, execution-focused mindset with strong organizational skills\nExperience managing budgets, operational strategy, and multi-region programs\nDemonstrated ability to navigate regulatory environments and secure approvals\nExperience integrating new technologies and driving continuous improvement\nIt’s a plus if you have:\nExperience in live events, entertainment, or high-tempo field operations\nPassion for aviation, technology, and live experiences\nComfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments with frequent travel\nWhat will make you successful:\nComfortable operating in a fast-growing, evolving environment\nWillingness to travel frequently and be present at live show operations\nProactive, solutions-oriented, and adaptable\nPassion for aviation, technology, and live experiences\nHealth Insurance\n401(k) Matching\nPaid Time Off (PTO)\nPaid Holidays\nFlexible Work Arrangements\nVision Insurance\nIf you\\'re ready to play a key role in supporting the operational backbone of a company redefining storytelling in the sky, we’d love to hear from you.
