This role is ideal for a passionate builder and mentor—someone who remains deeply engaged in coding, system design, and emerging technologies while guiding developers toward best practices and high-quality outcomes. Success requires active participation in development, code reviews, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making alongside leadership responsibilities.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nHands-On Engineering & Architecture.\nActively design, develop, and maintain production-grade software (backend and frontend).\nContribute directly to complex feature development and system enhancements.\nLead architectural decisions for microservices-based systems.\nGuide evolution of cloud-native applications in Azure (AKS, APIM, CosmosDB)\nEnforce clean architecture, coding standards, and performance best practices\n\nTechnical Leadership & Mentorship\nLead and mentor a team of 6 resources across Software Development and DevOps\nProvide hands-on coaching through code reviews and pair programming\nPromote engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement\nEstablish secure coding practices and strong testing discipline\n\nDelivery & Business Alignment\nTranslate business requirements into scalable technical solutions\nSupport delivery of customer-facing digital products\nAlign engineering efforts with customer experience and business goals\n\nAI & Modern Development Practices\nIdentify and implement AI use cases for developer productivity and customer experience\nDrive adoption of CI/CD, test automation, and observability practices\n\nDevOps & Platform Oversight\nOversee CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices\nPartner with DevOps to improve deployment reliability and scalability.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n10+ years software development experience with strong hands-on coding\n3+ years in a technical leadership role\nExpertise in Java and Spring Boot\nExperience with microservices and REST APIs\nStrong knowledge of NoSQL (CosmosDB, MongoDB) and JSON\nExperience with JavaScript/TypeScript frontend frameworks\nExperience with container technologies, preferably Kubernetes (AKS)\nCI/CD and DevOps practices with Git-based workflows\nExperience building externally facing web applications\nStrong secure coding practices\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in P&C insurance or financial services\nFamiliarity with AI/ML applied to business workflows\nExperience scaling high-transaction systems\n\nCore Competencies\nHands-on leadership and mentorship\nStrong problem-solving skills\nAbility to align business and technology\nPragmatic and results-driven mindset\nCommitment to innovation, quality, and continuous improvement\n\nADA: The above statements cover what are generally believed to be the principal and essential functions of this job.
