Entry-Level Field Service Technician
Job Overview
Are you eager to kick-start your career in industrial maintenance and field service? The Level 1 Field Service Technician is a hands-on, entry-level role designed for individuals beginning their career in industrial equipment service. This position focuses on learning the fundamentals—how to change filters, perform basic inspections, assist with simple repairs, and support senior technicians while gaining experience with dust collectors and air-pollution-control equipment.
Level 1 Technicians work closely with experienced team members to develop mechanical skills, safety awareness, and a solid understanding of how our equipment operates.
Duties
Basic Maintenance & Learning Tasks
Learn to change filters, bags, cartridges, and wear components.
Assist senior technicians with routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
Help perform simple repairs such as gasket replacements, valve swaps, tightening connections, cleaning ducts/hoppers, etc.
Learn equipment components (motors, fans, dampers, airlocks, controls, compressed air systems).
Support for Service & Repair Work
Assist with troubleshooting under supervision.
Help identify worn components and prepare lists for part replacements.
Gather part numbers, take photos, and help senior techs document issues.
Support basic mechanical repairs as directed.
Documentation & Communication
Record basic field notes, tasks completed, and hours worked.
Learn to complete service forms, maintenance checklists, and inspection sheets.
Communicate professionally with customers onsite.
Tools & Equipment
Learn to use basic hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, air lines, etc.
Help clean, organize, and maintain tools and equipment.
Safety & Teamwork
Follow all safety rules including LOTO, PPE requirements, fall protection, and confined-space awareness.
Participate in daily safety briefings and jobsite meetings.
Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Ability to follow instructions
Good communication skills
Basic computer skills
Ability to lift up to 65 lbs
High school diploma or GED
No experience required; training provided
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel with senior technicians
Assignments 1–5+ days with possible overnight stays
