The application is used to track children in care, manage parent communications, maintain allergy and care information, facilitate pickup workflows, and provide operational visibility across the platform.\n\nThe existing solution was originally acquired more than 20 years ago and is being rewritten from the ground up using modern technologies. The new platform leverages Angular on the frontend and Java/Spring Boot on the backend, while integrating with connected products and identification technologies that support child tracking and operational workflows.\n\nThis is a hands-on engineering role with a strong frontend emphasis, consisting of approximately 70% Angular development and 30% Java backend development. The engineer will work closely with a small team in a highly collaborative environment while contributing across the full application stack.\n\nWe are looking for someone who takes initiative, works well with teammates, remains level-headed under pressure, and enjoys solving complex business and technical challenges.\n\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and deploy full-stack application features.\nBuild and maintain Angular-based user interfaces using TypeScript and modern frontend development practices.\nDevelop and support Java/Spring Boot backend services and APIs.\nContribute to the modernization of a legacy enterprise application into a scalable, maintainable platform.\nDevelop functionality supporting child registration, care management, parent communications, notifications, pickup workflows, and operational visibility.\nBuild and maintain REST APIs and integration points with connected systems and third-party platforms.\nParticipate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.\nSupport database design, application performance, security, and reliability initiatives.\nCollaborate closely with engineers, product partners, and business stakeholders.\nSupport CI/CD processes and modern software delivery practices.\nContribute across frontend, backend, and hybrid mobile-enabled functionality as needed.\nMaintain high standards around security, performance, reliability, and code quality.\nRequired Experience\n8+ years of professional software development experience.\n5+ years operating in a Senior Software Engineer or Technical Lead capacity.\nStrong experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, and RxJS.\nExperience building and supporting enterprise-scale Angular applications.\nExperience developing backend services using Java and Spring Boot.\nExperience with RESTful services, API design, and system integrations.\nStrong SQL and relational database experience, including MySQL, MariaDB, or equivalent.\nExperience working within CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development environments.\nStrong understanding of software architecture, security best practices, and code quality standards.\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\nAbility to work independently, take ownership of solutions, and drive work forward with minimal direction.\nProven ability to remain calm and effective when dealing with production issues, deadlines, or changing priorities.\nPreferred Experience\nExperience modernizing or replacing legacy enterprise applications.\nExperience with Node.js REST APIs.\nExperience with OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT authentication, and enterprise SSO solutions.\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or similar containerized deployment platforms.\nFamiliarity with WebSocket technologies and real-time application development.\nExperience with Redis, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.\nExperience integrating software applications with connected devices, hardware-enabled systems, identification technologies, or third-party platforms.\nExposure to Capacitor or hybrid mobile application frameworks.\nExperience developing mobile-enabled solutions (not a dedicated mobile development role).\nExperience with AWS or cloud-native application development.\nFamiliarity with Grafana, Prometheus, observability platforms, and application monitoring tools.\nExperience with NGINX and multi-service application environments.\nPerformance testing and production support experience.\nExperience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives.\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools, generative AI technologies, or AI-related projects.
