We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.\nWhat You Will Do with JT4\n\nThe Instrumentation Operation Engineer will modify, install, test, evaluate, repair, and document airborne test instrumentation, and data acquisition systems, as well as the operation and performance of ground support equipment.\nFunctions - Duties\nConduct research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information; keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty\nPerform engineering tasks that are varied, with established deadlines that may be somewhat difficult in character\nPlan and carry out successive engineering steps to resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques such as tolerance studies and design calculations\nSupport projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared\nGenerate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects\nUsing computer-assisted test methods, conduct laboratory investigations on equipment or systems\nAssist in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies\nPrepare, delivers, and submits technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings\nPerform a variety of engineering tasks under general supervision of a senior-level engineer and any other position-related duties as assigned or requested\nExperience\nAnalog and digital electronic fundamentals, familiar with various sensors like strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermal sensors, while also possessing an understanding of digital logic and EU conversions\nMulti-meter, O-scope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, to accomplish tasks such as checkout, calibration, troubleshooting and repair\nSchematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, wire repair, block diagrams and technical publications\nIRIG 106 Telemetry Standards & TTC hardware/software\nA variety of electrical, instrumentation, and avionics on aircraft including bench testing\nOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES - Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to his/her job.\nWORKING CONDITIONS - This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness.\nPlease note: this position requires the ability to work in a field environment, which will include shift work, overtime, and travel to remote locations. Frequent exposure to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise.\nREQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE - The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution with two years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering. Incumbent will be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license. Must have or be able to obtain a DOD security clearance. Must be able to obtain special access. The incumbent must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
