This position is remote-friendly.\nPosition Overview\nWe are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing Data Plane Platform team building the foundation of Alteryx's next-generation cloud platform.\nYou will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and operating the platform that provisions, secures, and manages thousands of data planes across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Working closely with Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and SRE teams, you will drive the delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable platform capabilities while\nfostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of 8–10 software engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and promotion readiness.\nFoster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture by setting clear expectations, providing timely feedback, and coaching engineers on execution, ownership, technical judgment, and stakeholder communication.\nDrive the team's technical execution and roadmap in partnership with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leadership.\nTranslate product and engineering strategy into actionable plans, priorities, milestones, and measurable outcomes.\nOwn release readiness activities, including quality gates, go/no-go decisions, incident reviews, and Sev1/Sev2 operational management.\nOwn the team's delivery, quality, operational readiness, On Call and predictability, while managing capacity, execution risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs.\nPartner with Infrastructure, Security, SRE, and Architecture teams to improve platform reliability, observability, deployment automation, and operational excellence.\nMaintain strong engineering discipline across planning, estimation, design reviews, testing, CI/CD, incident management, retrospectives, and technical debt management.\nProvide technical leadership by reviewing designs, implementation approaches, and operational considerations to ensure quality, scalability, maintainability, and alignment with engineering standards.\nClarify team ownership, responsibilities, and decision-making to enable efficient execution while maintaining quality and alignment.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, career development, and team development.\n3 to 5+ years of experience leading the delivery of complex software systems in SaaS, cloud platform, distributed systems, or enterprise software environments.\nProven ability to deliver high-quality software through a team while balancing scope, schedule, quality, reliability, and operational excellence.\nExperience building backend services, APIs, and distributed systems using Go, Java, C#, Python, or similar programming languages.\nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.\nAbility to plan, prioritize, and execute effectively while managing ambiguity, cross-team dependencies, and changing business priorities.\nStrong people leadership skills, including coaching, feedback, performance management, career development, and building accountable, high-performing teams.\nStrong cross-functional partnership skills with the ability to align engineering delivery with product priorities, platform strategy, and organizational goals.\nExperience improving engineering practices such as planning, estimation, design reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, incident response, and technical debt management.\nCompensation:\nAlteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation.
