Building on more than 30 years of sustainability progress and industry‑first innovation, we remain ‘all in’ on our goal of becoming carbon negative by 2040, without the use of offsets.The Process Engineer II will identify improvement opportunities that align with strategic objectives and lead multi-disciplined teams improving existing processes, reducing costs, and assisting in the implementation of new manufacturing processes. This will be accomplished through the use of process improvement methodologies utilizing DMAIC, DOE, FMEA, Process Mapping, 6S, etc. This includes, but is not limited to, examining equipment, processes, and operations, then making improvements through the definition, development, documentation, training and implementation of the process. Candidates should enjoy both hands-on and theoretical engineering approaches.Educational requirements:BS in Engineering and over 2 years Process, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering experienceSkills and experience:Professional attitude and work ethic, and a self-starter with a desire to achieve resultsExcellent communication skills, verbal and written, from floor level through the management levelProven team leadership skills and the ability to influence others at all levels of the organizationKnowledgeable of process engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, and material propertiesCapable of process documentation such as manufacturing routings, task descriptions, work center definitionsExperience with project costing, bid package preparation and execution (desirable)Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving teams with demonstrated successThorough understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean tools and techniques (DMAIC, DOE, FMEA, SPC, Process Mapping, etc.)Ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret dataExperience with statistical software such as Minitab or SPC for Excel, flowcharting and process mapping software; the ability to train others in useStrong time and project management skillsExperience working with customers to understand performance and end-use requirements, determining critical process characteristics, variables, and measurement systems that determine and measure conformance to requirementsFamiliar with design of machinery fundamentalsEssential duties:Learn and retain a working knowledge of company initiatives, processes, laboratory testing and quality control procedures, as necessary to meet company needsWork with operators to learn the capabilities and limitations of our processes and identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, work procedures, quality, and safetyEvaluate all processes to identify opportunities to improve product uniformity, eliminate non-value-added functions, optimize process efficiency, and evaluate process for yield and safety improvement opportunitiesPartner with manufacturing to develop, maintain, implement, and monitor operational procedures and standardsWork to reduce off-quality by analyzing quality data to determine root causePerform cost analysis, time studies, frequency checks, and material usage analysisCollaborate with Engineering to plan and execute all aspects of a project or technology initiative, including basic data collection, engineering evaluation, scope of work development, cost estimations and financial analysisDevelop project charters and lead process improvement and cost reduction teams utilizing process improvement tools and techniquesAnalyze, develop, coordinate, implement and interpret the results of projects and trials related to continuous improvement and techniquesProvide regular updates on project statusMaintain accurate, legible, and well-organized records of all projects, trials and necessary support data in manufacturing and related support areasMaintain Process SpecificationsPerform Process AuditsCoordinate functional experts in contacting outside vendors concerning raw materials, supplies, machinery or equipment as necessary to meet company needsTravel to locations outside the company to conduct and/or assist in continuous improvement activities, trials or training, as necessary to meet company needsMonitor compliance with OSHA regulations, ISO 9001 & 14001 policiesComply with safety regulationsMaintain and promote good housekeepingComply with environmental regulationsBe aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)Perform other duties as assignedPhysical demands:Long periods of standing on concrete during data collectionDaily climbing of ladders or stairsExtensive walkingWork environment:Office environmentNon-climate controlled manufacturing environment.Bachelor of ScienceLearn more about Interface (NASDAQ: TILE) and our brands at interface.com and FLOR.com.
