Material Expediter

Material ExpediterThe Material Expediter executes the following:Locates and moves materials and parts between work areas of plant to expedite processing of goods, according to pre-determined schedules and priorities, and keeps related recordReviews production schedules inventory reports, and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required material and priorities of customer ordersConfers with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and condition of materialsLocates and moves materials to specified production areas, using cart or hand truckRecords quantity and type of materials distributed and on handWork may include the following tasks:Directing Power-Truck Operator or Material Handling Laborer to expedite movement of materials between storage and production areasCompare work ticket specifications with material at workstations to verify appropriateness of material in usePrepare worker production records and timecardsMay update and maintain inventory records, using computer terminal.Requirements:Minimum education: High school diploma or GEDPreferred education: Associate degree in logistics, supply chain, business or a related fieldMinimum experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in materials handling, logistics, supply chain, warehousing, inventory control, or production supportOther key skills and qualifications:experience tracking and expediting materials according to schedulesProficiency in Microsoft Office (excel and word) and ERP systemsAbility to read production schedules, determine material needs and resolve shortages/ delaysAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Knowledge of safety practices and basic supply chain processesAbility to obtain Security Clearance
