EHS Support Coordinator Reports to: Education Manager Department: Early Head Start Classification: Full-time Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary: This position requires flexibility regarding worksites and travel on a daily basis. The Early Head Start Support Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Early Head Start Home-Based program through training, mentoring, and coaching of Home Visitors. This position provides hands-on support to staff as they work with families and children ages birth to three. The Early Head Start Support Coordinator works alongside Home Visitors to strengthen quality home visits, support family engagement, ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, and assist staff in managing daily tasks and documentation. The position may conduct home visits and/or socializations when additional support is needed. This role provides positive mentoring, modeling of best practices, reflective support, and problem-solving with Home Visitors while maintaining compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and Early Head Start policies and requirements. Work is performed under the supervision of the Education Manager and reviewed through regular supervision, reports, and program outcomes. Essential Functions: Comply with and provide services based on all Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Agency Employee Handbook, all other agency policies and procedures, and State of Kansas requirements, and be in compliance with all funding entity requirements. Report any suspected child/adult abuse or neglect to the appropriate authority. Provide ongoing professional communication and coordination with co-workers, management staff, community partners, and families. Understand and support NEK-CAP, Inc. governance, including Parent Committee, Policy Council, and the Multi-County Board of Directors. Meet with the Education Manager as directed. Coordinate information, schedules, concerns, and successes with the Education Manager. Attend and participate in training, conferences, staff meetings, reflective supervision, and in-service days. Complete and submit all required documentation and data entry according to set time frames and expectations. Maintain dependable, punctual attendance and adhere to appropriate break times. Maintain a clean and safe work area including vehicle and office space. Assist staff in meeting non-federal share (in-kind) requirements by supporting the documentation and development of in-kind contributions. Participate in Family Team Support meetings as requested. Support staff in maintaining enrollment and assist with recruitment efforts for Early Head Start services. Advocate for NEK-CAP, Inc. in the community. Maintain and assure confidentiality and privacy of NEK-CAP, Inc. families and staff. Uphold and promote the values and mission of NEK-CAP, Inc. Adhere to the Standards of Conduct and Community Action Code of Ethics. Support management decisions both in actions and words. Promote staff wellness, self-care, and positive team culture. Complete and submit all vehicle mileage paperwork according to set time frames and expectations. Cross train for the home visitor position and stand in as needed. Assist at sites when short staffed, help in any position, help with data input, helping clean centers, helping with transportation needs, conducting home visits and/or socializations, etc. Conduct home visits when additional staff support is needed or when coverage is required. Ability to work unconventional or varied business hours. This position does require travel within the service area and may not know their exact work hours from day to day. Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to Home Visitors to strengthen quality home visits and family partnerships. Model effective home visit practices and assist Home Visitors in planning developmentally appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, and their families. Assist Home Visitors in managing daily tasks including planning visits, completing documentation, and entering data into program software. Provide training and ongoing support related to: Parent-child interactions Developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers Family engagement strategies Child development and early learning Documentation and compliance expectations Assist Home Visitors in problem-solving challenges that arise during family visits. Support staff in coordinating services with other program areas including family services, health, mental health, and disabilities. Observe home visits to provide supportive feedback and reflective coaching. Help ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards related to home-based services. Support the implementation of curriculum and assessment tools utilized within the program. Assist Home Visitors in identifying community resources and connecting families with needed supports. Knowledge and Experience: Essential Ability to learn and adapt Resourceful and well organized Basic computer and electronic skills Basic operations of general office equipment such as photocopiers, scanners, faxes, and phone systems. Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family Studies, Social Work, or a related field preferred. Minimum requirement: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education; or Associate degree in a related field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education and experience working with infants, toddlers, and families. Obtain CPR certification and maintain current certification. Attend required training in child abuse and neglect and blood borne pathogens upon hire, and all other required professional development. Successfully complete and pass a physical exam, receive a negative TB test, and drug screen prior to beginning employment. Submit to and pass criminal background/history check in compliance with State of Kansas Child Care Licensing. Possess a current valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance.
