RN - SICU

Registered Nurse In Surgical Intensive Care Unit Position in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The shift is 3x12 nights. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of experience. First-time travelers are not accepted. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Candidates will float to other units within scope as needed, primarily to other ICUs. Block schedule accommodations may be discussed with the manager. Local candidates are accepted. No radius restrictions apply. Candidates should ideally have no more than 5 days of requested time off. The hospital is an acute care facility with a total of 562 staffed beds. The charting system used is Cerner. The patient demographic is primarily adults with a daily census of 11. Typical patient diagnoses include ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, and various post-surgical complications. Special procedures performed include bedside bronchoscopy and management of central lines. Required skills include managing ventilated patients, administering emergency medications, and interpreting arterial blood gases. Additional unit support is provided by physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates will need to meet compliance requirements before start. The unit requires an additional focus on infection prevention and neuro assessments. Successful candidates will manage complex situations involving multisystem organ dysfunction.
