Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning.\r\nAdjunct faculty are hired part-time on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent on system needs. Applications are accepted year-round for part-time teaching. Adjunct teaching is based on student demand. Classes are offered day, evening, and weekend at various times and locations. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.\r\nResponsibilities Teach Geography courses at a variety of times and locations\r\nCreate engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material\r\nSubmit required college reports and forms promptly\r\nUtilize a course syllabus following established institutional guidelines\r\nAdvise students before/after class or by appointment, via electronic communication or other appropriate methods\r\nEvaluate student progress toward course objectives and provide timely feedback\r\nMaintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community\r\nAttend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required\r\nPerform other reasonable related duties as assigned\r\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mastery of course content\r\nDemonstrated leadership with collaboration and facilitation\r\nExcellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills\r\nAbility to appreciate diverse viewpoints and work with a wide variety of people\r\nInterest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning and distance learning\r\nCommitment to academic excellence, service, and a dynamic climate for lifelong learning\r\nAbility to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology\r\nAbility to engage students with effective learning strategies\r\nPhysical Abilities The work is sedentary with potential for light movement such as walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving.
