This role is essential in maintaining workflow, enhancing patient experience, and supporting high‑quality medical services. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesPatient intake — Obtain vital signs, medical history, chief complaints, and update electronic health records (EHR).Clinical procedures — Assist with exams, prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and support minor procedures.Specimen collection — Perform phlebotomy, collect urine samples, conduct point‑of‑care tests (strep, flu, glucose).Patient education — Provide instructions on treatment plans, medications, and follow‑up care.Administrative DutiesScheduling & coordination — Schedule appointments, manage provider calendars, and coordinate referrals.Front desk operations — Check patients in/out, verify insurance, collect copays, and handle phone calls.EHR documentation — Accurately document patient encounters, update charts, and maintain confidentiality.Billing support — Assist with coding, billing, and processing insurance claims as needed.Supply management — Monitor inventory, restock exam rooms, and order supplies. Required Skills & CompetenciesClinical knowledge of basic medical terminology, anatomy, and common proceduresCommunication skills for interacting with patients, families, and providersEHR proficiency (Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, etc.)Multitasking in a fast‑paced environmentProfessionalism and strong attention to detailInfection control and safety protocol knowledgeTypical RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant programCertification preferred but not required (CMA, RMA, CCMA)CPR/BLS certificationExperience in a clinic or physician office is often preferred but not always required
