Researches best business practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data. Collects and analyzes process data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices and procedures that focus on enhanced safety, increased productivity and reduced cost. Determines how new information technologies can support reengineering business processes. May specialize in one or more of the following areas: benchmarking, business process analysis and reengineering, change management and measurement, and/or process-driven systems requirements.YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary responsibilities of this role, Value Stream Lead, Bemda - Berkeley are:The Value Stream Lead (VSL) owns the end-to-end (door-to-door) product value stream at the site level.This role is critical to delivering product outcomes by aligning site execution with the Product Strategy and priorities set by the Product Team. The position is primarily focused on two areas:Stage-Gate Readiness: Ensure the site is prepared to support stage-gated Product Performance Qualification (PPQ) and Biologics License Application (BLA) activities.Commercial Readiness: Strengthen commercial performance by addressing key drivers such as Cost of Goods (CoGs), inventory, volume planning, supply reliability, and Product System Steering (PSS)-driven improvements.The VSL serves as the primary link between the Product Team and the Site Leadership Team, driving transparency, prioritization, and value delivery across the value chain.Co-create the product aspiration and economic intent with the Product Team, ensuring site alignment on launch readiness, cost of goods, inventory, volumes, and service levels.Translate product strategy and value objectives into clear site-level outcomes and priorities across teams while maintaining end-to-end accountability.Serve as the primary interface between the Product Supply Product Team and Berkeley Site Leadership Team, representing site priorities and enabling cross-functional alignment.Lead Product-Centric Steering at the site to align priorities, trade-offs, resources, and performance metrics between the product team and site leadership.Drive transparent PDCA-based product performance reviews and provide decision-relevant reporting on KPI performance, value realization, and operational risks.Own visibility of the end-to-end value stream, including COGS drivers, inventory, volumes, capacity constraints, and major loss elements, to support informed decision-making.Catalyze and coach site teams to identify, prioritize, and execute value-driven improvement opportunities through value stream mapping, loss analysis, and structured improvement backlogs.Facilitate resolution of cross-product and cross-site trade-offs, escalate risks when needed, and share best practices and synergies across the global VSL community.WHO YOU AREBayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:Required Qualifications:Bachelor's and relevant experience in biopharma manufacturing, supply, or value stream leadership;Business & Product Acumen: Strong understanding of end-to-end (E2E) product value chains, product economics, cost of goods (CoGs), inventory dynamics, capacity, and volume optimization.Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to apply value stream mapping, loss analysis, and PDCA methodologies to drive measurable operational and business improvements.Operating Model Experience: Experience working in Product-Centric Steering (PCS), Product-System Steering (PSS), or similarly matrixed operating environments.Stakeholder Leadership: Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, influencing, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to align senior leaders and cross-functional teams in complex and ambiguous environments.Risk & Decision Making: Ability to identify and escalate risks early, manage cross-product trade-offs, and translate strategic outcomes into clear site-level actions.DSO Mindset: Ability to work in a product- and customer-centric operating model and foster collaboration, accountability, and value realization across a network of teams.VACC Leadership: Applies Bayer's VACC leadership approach by defining outcomes, shaping value-creating systems, enabling collaboration, removing roadblocks, and coaching teams to learn and evolve.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, life sciences, or a related field with 14+ years of relevant experience in biopharma manufacturing, supply, or value stream leadership; advanced degree preferred.Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $218,880.00 - $328,320.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
