HESQ Operations Manager – Mobile, AL (Chemical Manufacturing)What You'll DoLead HESQ & Critical Risk ProgramsEnsure full compliance with environmental, safety, health, and quality requirements.Drive proactive risk-reduction programs, incident investigation, PHAs, MOCs, and audits.Oversee emergency response planning and serve as Emergency Director.Guide industrial hygiene, medical surveillance, and plant security initiatives.Oversee Environmental Compliance & Wastewater OperationsLead compliance with all environmental permits and regulatory reporting.Support evolving environmental requirements and continuous improvement projects.Provide leadership to the Environmental Engineer and WWT team to ensure safe, compliant, reliable operations.Maintain transparent, professional relationships with regulatory agencies.Drive Continuous Improvement & Operational ExcellenceSet strategic HESQ goals and lead sitewide improvement efforts.Conduct routine field audits and reinforce an inclusive, accountable safety culture.Lead contractor safety management and actively share best practices across networks.Support Laboratory Operations & Product QualityPartner with the Quality Lab Supervisor to ensure compliance with lab procedures, customer requirements, and certifications (ISCC+, ISO).Oversee off-spec product handling, SAP Quality processes, and raw material qualifications.Promote a collaborative, growth-oriented lab culture.Manage Budgets & Support Capital ProjectsDevelop and manage the HESQ budget across safety, environmental, WWT, and quality.Identify cost-effective solutions without compromising compliance or reliability.Integrate HESQ requirements into capital planning and resource decisions.Provide inclusive leadership, coaching, and performance management for Safety, Environmental, WWT, and Quality teams.Build trust through regular visibility in field and lab areas.Serve as backup to the Plant Manager when needed.What You'll Bring5+ years of experience in a petrochemical or chemical manufacturing environment (10+ preferred)5+ years of plant operations experienceEngineering degree (advanced degree or specialized HESQ training is a plus)Completion of OSHA #511Broad experience in Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality, and Process Safety, including familiarity with Alabama environmental regulationsProven ability to lead and develop diverse, cross-functional teamsStrong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skillsAbility to influence without authority and promote a culture of accountabilityJ-18808-Ljbffr
