The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.\n\nThis is a full-time position with a full benefit package listed below that includes opportunities for professional growth, direct hire by our customers, and additional opportunities within our own organization.\n\nEmbedded Software Engineer II\n\nThis selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff supporting the development, integration, validation, and deployment of embedded software solutions used in advanced mining, robotics, automation, and machine control applications. Work will include software design, feature development, integration, troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement activities involving embedded controllers, machine systems, sensors, communications networks, and data management technologies. The work will be highly collaborative with systems, software, machine, validation, and global engineering teams.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDesign and implement software for embedded devices and systems from requirements through production deployment.\nDevelop embedded software features using C++, Python, and modern software development practices.\nParticipate in software architecture, design reviews, requirements decomposition, and system integration activities.\nSupport software validation, testing, and verification throughout the development lifecycle.\nTroubleshoot software and system issues and implement corrective actions.\nDevelop and execute test cases to perform unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing.\nSupport precision mining, machine automation, robotics, and control system applications.\nCollaborate with machine, systems, software, and validation teams located across global engineering organizations.\nParticipate in Agile software development activities including sprint planning, standups, reviews, and backlog refinement.\nAnalyze and improve software performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.\nSupport communication and integration of software systems utilizing CAN, Ethernet, and related data networks.\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, software designs, and development records.\nSupport deployment and validation activities for prototype and production systems.\nTravel to customer or supplier locations pending project need (up to ~25%).\n.\n\nRequirements\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field required.\n2-4 years of software development experience. Relevant internship experience will be considered.\nStrong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.\nExperience with software development for embedded or real-time control systems.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.\nAbility to communicate technical information effectively.\nAbility to thrive in a collaborative team environment.\nMust have a valid Driver's License.\n\nDesired Attributes\n\nExperience with ROS1 or ROS2.\nExperience with OpenCV, machine vision, machine learning, or computer vision applications.\nExperience with GitHub or similar version control systems.\nExperience with CAN, Ethernet, or other machine communication networks.\nExperience with AWS services such as S3, EC2, and Batch.\nExperience developing software for robotics, automation, autonomous systems, or advanced machine technologies.\nExperience working within Agile software development environments\nExperience supporting software integration, validation, and deployment activities.\nAbility to work effectively with globally distributed engineering teams.\nStrong communicator with the ability to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nDesire to work in an engineering environment focused on advanced software, robotics, autonomy, and precision technology solutions\n.\n\nVisa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.\n\nPay Range: $100,000-$120,000 – Commensurate with experience\n\nAbout RFA Engineering\n\nRFA Engineering has provided product development and engineering services to industry leading customers since 1943.
