The Advanced Engineering Manager leads the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies that support new product launches, operational excellence, and long-term business growth. This role is responsible for managing advanced manufacturing engineering activities, overseeing capital projects, supporting product development, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across multiple manufacturing facilities. The Advanced Engineering Manager partners closely with Operations, Quality, Product Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, and customers to ensure successful program execution while maintaining safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nLead and develop the Advanced Engineering team, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management.\nManage engineering resources supporting new product launches, manufacturing process development, and plant support activities.\nOversee the design, development, procurement, installation, and validation of manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation, and production systems.\nLead cross-functional launch teams to ensure successful implementation of new products and manufacturing processes.\nDevelop manufacturing strategies that improve productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.\nManage capital expenditure projects, including budgeting, timelines, vendor selection, equipment acceptance, and implementation.\nCollaborate with Product Engineering during product development to ensure manufacturability and cost-effective production.\nEnsure completion of APQP deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and PPAP documentation.\nDrive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ADD AI, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.\nAnalyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve quality, increase throughput, and lower operating costs.\nSupport plant operations in resolving complex manufacturing and equipment issues through structured problem-solving methodologies.\nEvaluate and implement emerging manufacturing technologies to improve competitiveness.\nDevelop engineering standards, best practices, and standardized manufacturing processes across facilities.\nManage relationships with equipment suppliers, integrators, contractors, and technical service providers.\nEnsure compliance with customer requirements, safety standards, environmental regulations, and applicable quality management systems.\nMonitor engineering project performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and report progress to senior leadership.\nSupport customer visits, audits, technical reviews, and launch meetings.\nFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.\nMaster's degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.\n8–10+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.\n3–5+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.\nProven experience leading new product launches from concept through production.\nExperience managing capital equipment projects and manufacturing process development.\nExperience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities is preferred.\nKnowledge of automotive customer requirements and launch processes.\nWho we are\nNexForm, headquartered in Battle Creek, Michigan, is a vertically integrated manufacturer of engineered fiber solutions for automotive thermal and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) applications.
