Project Engineers are actively involved in team approach and makes recommendations to deliver integrated process/systems as specified and contracted.\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\nApplication of Knowledge of Process Systems\n\nSupports execution of the process scope of services that meets customer’s project requirements and complies with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations.\n\nApplies experience and engineering knowledge to support development of technical proposals and execute projects.\n\nSupports planning, conducting and coordinating all discipline engineering functions based on their review of a project scope of work with focus on design, operation, and material/equipment selection.\n\nEffectively communicates with other Engineers, Project Managers, Clients and Suppliers.\n\nFollows engineering procedures.\n\nDesign\n\nParticipates in project strategy meetings, develops design concepts and recommends systems.\n\nResponsible for the production of well‑organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness.\n\nMaintains orderly work files and prepares clear, well written correspondence.\n\nResearches, documents and is responsible for discipline design compliance with all\napplicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations.\n\nResearches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria.\n\nExecutes or coordinates with designers for layout.\n\nDefines and performs and/or checks engineering calculations and analyses.\n\nWrites discipline specifications for assigned projects.\n\nResponsible for placement of safety symbols on construction documents as necessary for discipline.\n\nSupports technical review of project technical requirements with team to define work plan.\n\nAssists with plotting, production and assembly of drawing packages.\n\nDevelops or verifies utility matrixes, equipment lists, equipment specifications and controls.\n\nDevelops and/or reviews discipline specific drawings, schedules and calculations, and provides guidance and input for similar technical documents provided by Design Associates.\n\nConstruction Support\n\nParticipates in plant surveys or field inspections, development of solutions to field problems, preparation of field orders, addenda and record drawings.\n\nProvides clarification of the design, responding to Contractor inquiries, and serves a lead role for site support for equipment installation, start‑up and commissioning efforts.\n\nEffectively manages project startup, commissioning, verification and closeout tasks.\n\nProvides timely solutions to field problems and prepares field orders, addenda and record drawings.\n\nParticipates as requested in construction inspection to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings and specifications. Inspections may occur at the client’s site or at a vendor. Prepares inspection reports.\n\nProject Management\n\nRepresent Process Team in both internal and external (Clients/Vendors) design reviews throughout the project.\n\nPrepares presentation materials.\n\nAssists the project team with the identification of consulting partners and pre‑qualifies them for appropriate services.\n\nWrites Scope of Work (SOW) and develops/assembles all technical drawings required to issue Bid Packages.\n\nManages Bid Packages in terms of evaluating bids for technical conformance, participates in overall Vendor selection and provides technical support to the Procurement team throughout the purchase cycle.\n\nReviews and comments on vendor submittal documents for conformance with contract documents.\n\nMonitors client requests against the proposal and known scope of work. Develops\nengineering change notices under the direction of the Project Manager.\n\nLeads and/or coordinates work with other disciplines and participates in interdisciplinary coordination checks and QA/QC reviews to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications.\n\nSupports creating and/or updating Standards and Procedures for executing projects effectively and efficiently.\n\nProvides technical guidance, mentorship and training for Design Associates.\n\nPlanning, Scheduling and Profitability\n\nCreates discipline work plan for assigned projects. Monitors workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules.\n\nSupports production and man‑hour estimate for project effort for all work in process discipline. Develops process related budgets under the direction of the Project Manager.\n\nProduces pricing and proposal presentation documents.\n\nAssists in coordinating information with and monitoring efforts/costs of discipline‑related outside consultants.\n\nTracks actual hours worked each week for themselves and their project team, and informs director if deliverables are tracking within schedule and budget.\n\nCoordinates with team to produce a well‑coordinated, technically sound, complete set of documents reflecting the required scope of work on time and within the budget.\n\nAssists the project team in RFP responses, developing proposals including the preparation of conceptual estimates, schedules and other proposal documents.\n\nProfessional Development\n\nOpportunities to pursue FE or PE License working with Professional Engineers.\n\nEncouraged to consider further educational opportunities.\n\nParticipates in professional organizations in terms of memberships and/or educational courses and seminars.\n\nLeadership\n\nAdheres to established company standards and policies.\n\nDirects technical efforts of discipline subordinates assigned to the project.\n\nSelf‑starter who works well within groups and individually to further improve and contribute to the growth and effectiveness of the Department.\n\nProvides guidance and mentorship to Design Associates.\n\nTravel as required.\n\nOther duties which may be assigned as needed.\n\nMay supervise others.\n\nEducation & Years of Experience\n\nBachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience required.\n\n3+ years of industry related experience.\n\nQualifications\n\nPE license preferred or desire to obtain PE license\n\nExperience and or knowledge with standard process equipment in terms of operation and applications: pumps, piping, valves, tanks, heat exchangers, filtration, etc.\n\nExperience and or knowledge with the following utility operations and functions: boilers, compressed air, water treatment, ammonia and glycol refrigeration, wastewater, CIP/SIP systems, cooling towers, furnaces, etc.\n\nKnowledge of engineering role in equipment procurement (data sheets, specifications, bid packages, technical bid evaluations, etc.).\n\nStrong analytical and problem‑solving individual should be able to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.\n\nKnowledge of vendor qualification, procurement and administrative practices.\n\nProficient in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD/Smart P&IDs preferred.\n\nMotivated, self‑starter with the desire to continue to learn and take leadership roles in projects.\n\nEnvironmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements\nWhile performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand‑eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information.
