Shipbuilding Electrical Engineering Manager
Job SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shipbuilding Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the design, integration, and execution of electrical systems on ships within a fast-paced new-build and repair shipyard environment. This pivotal leadership role involves overseeing a team of engineers, collaborating closely with production, project management, and cross-functional teams to ensure the timely, budget-conscious, and regulatory-compliant delivery of electrical systems. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills to drive excellence in shipyard electrical engineering projects.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of shipboard electrical systems, including power distribution, automation, lighting, and communications.Review and approve electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.Coordinate with naval architecture, mechanical engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless system integration.Ensure all electrical systems meet ABS, USCG, and other maritime regulatory standards.Support construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts during vessel build and repair phases.Drive process improvements and standardization across engineering workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking to meet project milestones and deliverables.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.At least 7 years of maritime or shipyard electrical engineering experience.Prior leadership or team management experience is required.Strong knowledge of shipboard electrical systems and their integration.Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical; experience with ShipConstructor or similar tools is a plus.Solid understanding of ABS, USCG, and other maritime regulatory compliance standards.Preferred experience includes PLC systems, power management systems, and advanced vessel technologies.Familiarity with shipyard production environments and new-build workflows.Ability to coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
