Teacher (Lee County Primary)

Title: K - 5 Classroom TeacherPosition PurposeTo deliver standards-based instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for grades K–5; to promote students' academic, social, and emotional development; to implement district curriculum using research-based practices; and to maintain a safe, orderly, and legally compliant learning environment that supports all learners.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvide instruction aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence and district curriculum in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and other assigned elementary subjects.Use research-based instructional strategies and adjust instruction based on assessment data in compliance with GaDOE expectations.Differentiate instruction for students with disabilities in accordance with IDEA, Section 504, ADA, MTSS expectations, and district accommodation plans.Administer and document required assessments; maintain accurate instructional, progress monitoring, and compliance records in accordance with FERPA, GaDOE regulations, and district procedures.Maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment, enforcing student conduct rules consistent with district policy and O.C.G.A.20-2-1184 (student supervision).Encourage student engagement through effective classroom management, positive behavior supports, and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.Communicate academic and behavioral progress with students and parents in accordance with FERPA and district communication guidelines.Protect confidentiality of student information under federal and state laws.Participate in required professional learning as mandated by GaDOE, GaPSC, or district leadership.Collaborate with grade-level and school personnel on curriculum planning, data analysis, intervention supports, and school improvement initiatives.Use district instructional technology and data systems for instruction, communication, and required reporting.Fulfill all mandatory reporting responsibilities, including child abuse (O.C.G.A.19-7-5), bullying, and required safety reporting.Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times, including recess, transitions, and activities involving school transportation.Follow the GaPSC Code of Ethics for Educators in all professional conduct and decision-making.Perform other duties assigned by the Principal that fall within legal guidelines, certification limits, and district expectations.Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. Equipment: Use of district-required instructional technology, computers, printers, classroom devices, and standard instructional materials.Travel Requirements: Travel to school district buildings, professional meetings, and events as required.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence for appropriate grades.Knowledge of instructional strategies aligned with LCSS and GaDOE expectations.Knowledge of federal and state education laws (IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, Title VI, Title IX, O.C.G.A. Title 20).Ability to maintain accurate instructional and compliance records.Proficiency with instructional technology and district data/reporting systems.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to maintain ethical conduct and professional boundaries under GaPSC Ethics Rule 505-6-.01.Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards: Ability to perform standard classroom duties including standing, walking, communicating, using technology, and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.Work occurs in typical school and classroom environments.QualificationsCertification/License: Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification in Elementary Education (P–5) or Middle Grades certification appropriate for the assignment.Must meet certification requirements under O.C.G.A.20-2-200.Must maintain GaPSC ethics clearance, fingerprinting, and background check requirements.Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Elementary Education or a related field (required by GaPSC).Graduate Degree Preferred But Not Legally Required.Experience: Prior successful teaching experience in the appropriate grade level or content area preferred.FLSA Status:Exempt
