Long-term athlete development High standards with high support Process over outcome Technical mastery and movement quality Mental resilience and competition readiness Building strong humans first, strong climbers second We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual who is passionate about both elite athlete development and high-quality route setting.Position OverviewThis hybrid full-time role combines elite-level coaching responsibilities with leadership and execution in route setting. The ideal candidate understands how thoughtful setting and intentional coaching work together to create exceptional climber development.Coaching Responsibilities (15–20 Hours/Week) Lead and assist Elite Team practices Coach bouldering, sport climbing, movement, strength, and competition strategy Provide technical analysis and individualized athlete feedback Support competition preparation and athlete goal setting Maintain a disciplined, positive, and growth-oriented team culture Route Setting Responsibilities (20–25 Hours/Week) Set high-quality commercial and competition-style climbs Create movement that supports athlete progression and member engagement Maintain strong standards for safety, creativity, and consistency Qualifications Previous coaching experience with competitive climbers 3+ years previous commercial or competition route setting experience Ability to forerun V9+ in all styles Comfortable setting a variety of climbing styles from V0-V10 Strong understanding of climbing movement and training principles Professional, reliable, and team-oriented mindset Coaching availability Monday–Thursday 4pm-8pm and Saturdays Setting availability Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am-5pm Strong communication skills and ability to provide and receive feedbackPreferred Experience coaching elite or nationally competitive youth athletes USAC coaching certifications or equivalent experience USAC setting certifications or equivalent experience Competition climbing experience at a high level Experience setting for youth competitions or high-performance programs Compensation & Benefits Competitive full-time compensation based on experience ($22-$28/hr) Professional development opportunities Competition coaching opportunities and travel potential Growth opportunities within Method ClimbingTo Apply Please send your resume, coaching/setting philosophy statement, relevant experience, and availability to: jeremy@methodclimb.com + nick@methodclimb.comSubject Line: Full-Time Coach & Route Setter Application – [Your Name] Join Us If you are passionate about athlete development, creative route setting, and helping build a high-performance climbing culture, we’d love to hear from you.
