This position will foster a supportive and inclusive environment for Sheldon students by welcoming them to the Wellness Center, helping them feel comfortable while they wait for counseling staff, and connecting them to in-school and community resources as needed using the Rapid Access Network (see further information below).\n\nThe Resource Navigator will work from approximately 12pm-3pm on school days. This is a limited-duration position for the 2026–2027 school year. Employees in this position work according to the approved school-year calendar and are scheduled only on days school is in session and other designated workdays (approximately 170 days total). Employment ends at the close of the school year.\n\nThe ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others, be reliable and dependable, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and maintain a commitment to promoting well-being among youth.\n\nAdditional information:\n\nThe Rapid Access Network (RAN) is a software application developed by the 15th Night program to connect youth in need to a network of resources and services in real time. Resources include: shelter/housing, clothing/shoes, food, school supplies, counseling, mentor/peer support, transportation, LGBTQIA2S+ support, employment resources, application assistance, BIPOC support, education options, and more.\n\nRAN advocates learn about youth needs and enter alerts into the system to connect youth to resources and services. RAN responders are service providers and community members who respond to alerts and provide resources and services to youth. Community responders only receive general information about youth needs and are given opportunities to support youth in ways that protect youth identity and privacy.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\n· Greet students who arrive at the Wellness Center to meet with mental health professionals by welcoming students, directing them to a comfortable place to sit, and asking them to wait until their counselor is available.\n\n· Create a welcoming environment by greeting students, building positive relationships, and monitoring the Wellness Center waiting area to ensure students feel safe, supported, and connected to available services.\n\n· Assist students in navigating available school and community resources and provide ongoing support as needed.\n\n· Utilize both school-based and community Rapid Access Networks (RANs) to document student needs, send alerts for resources, and communicate with providers to ensure needs are met.\n\n· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local resources and services in the RAN to effectively respond to student needs, coordinating with the 4J 15th Night Program Coordinator and attending 15th Night Network meetings as needed.\n\n· Attend monthly check-in meetings with supervisor.\n\n· Monitor the RANs and respond to review and respond to alerts sent to the Sheldon Resource Navigator and connect students to the appropriate Sheldon resources.\n\n· Act as a liaison between students and school staff to ensure students’ needs are met, as needed.\n\n· Maintain professional boundaries with all students.\n\nOther Duties and Responsibilities\n\n· Other related duties as needed.\n\nBehavioral Competencies\n\n· Must be comfortable working with participants in schools and the community.\n\n· Must be comfortable discussing sensitive topics regarding housing instability and mental health.\n\n· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.\n\n· Strong service-oriented attitude.\n\n· Organized, with time management skills and attention to detail.\n\n· Willingness to take the initiative to accomplish project tasks as needed and to apply skills and knowledge to new situations.\n\n· Willingness to work in a team environment requiring participatory decision-making and cooperation among employees.\n\n· Work is assigned by a supervisor on an as-needed basis.\n\n· Supervisor is available at most times.\n\n· Will be responsible for own work only.\n\n· Requires a moderate level of interpretive judgement; may make some independent decisions or choose between existing methods and procedures.\n\nQualifications and Experience\n\n· BA/BS degree with coursework appropriate to the positions and at least 1 year of related experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience appropriate to the position.\n\n· Experience working with youth or students preferred.\n\nPhysical, Mental, and Visual Demands\n\nMust interpret spoken and written communication in English.\nMust effectively communicate verbally in English or effectively communicate non-verbally in English with reasonable accommodation.\nMust visually observe and interpret data contained on written forms or in computer files.\nMust sit for periods of time (3-4 hours).\nMust type into a PC.\nMust lift boxes and stacks of documents (10-30 pounds on an occasional basis).\nMust kneel to fill copier paper tray.\nMust access a range of schools and public places (e.g., manage stairs).\n\nEquipment, tools, machines used while performing job\n\nPersonal computer, telephone, copiers, printers, server and network devices\n\nVehicles or moving equipment used while performing the job\n\nNA\n\nStandards/Expectations for person performing the job\n\nAfter completion of training period you will be required to keep up with the average time allowed for the various duties.
