About
Mothers' Milk Bank Northeast is a nonprofit human donor milk bank providing screened and pasteurized donor milk to hospitalized medically fragile babies. The COO will oversee operations—receiving, storing, pasteurizing milk, microbiological testing, IT/data operations, human resources, team culture, and facilities—ensuring safety regulations, supply and demand tracking, and a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities
Report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Pasteurization laboratory oversight—supervise lab staff, ensure training, continuous quality improvement, teamwork, and compliance with regulations.
Manage raw milk intake, safe storage, pasteurization operations, documentation, product dispensation, and safety procedures.
Ensure adherence to GMP, FDA, Food Safety Program, and HMBANA accreditation; act as liaison to oversight bodies.
Accountable for fiscal and production goals, minimize waste, respond to client demand, pursue continuous quality improvement.
Develop and maintain inventory and demand forecasting systems.
Assess and implement equipment and technology to improve efficiency and safety.
Stay abreast of best practices; incorporate improvements with CEO.
Represent the milk bank at meetings, conferences, and to stakeholders.
Manage physical facility—safety, hygiene, layout, technology.
Supervise cold storage units, organization, and accuracy.
Identify equipment needs; balance ROI with budget.
Coordinate with property managers and vendors for facility issues.
Maintain inventory and supplies; ensure optimal work environment.
Lead facility layout development and implementation.
Ensure full‑time on‑site coverage and off‑hour emergency coverage.
Lead organizational efforts to promote a positive, inclusive workplace.
Review and update employee policies; provide day‑to‑day leadership and open‑door support.
Liaise with IT consultants; ensure IT needs and security protocols are met.
Establish and maintain documentation and data systems for data‑driven decision making.
Develop dashboards and reports for stakeholders.
Collaborate with team leaders to align operations and support other divisions.
Share regular data reports on supply, efficiency, safety, and forecast.
Participate in budget planning, adhere to budget, track expenses, maintain records.
Optimize purchasing program for high‑quality supplies at best rates.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; minimum 10 years professional experience, including 5 years senior leadership and supervisory experience.
Experience in regulatory compliance and safety management.

Computer skills: MS Office, databases; Salesforce knowledge a plus.
Strong collaboration and communication abilities.
Certifications: PCQI, ServSafe, Food Safety Manager (required, can be obtained after hiring).
Good sense of humor and flexibility (plus).
