Advanced Medical Assistant (MA) - Oncology

This role focuses on supporting oncology patients through various clinical tasks tailored to the needs of the practice.Essential Responsibilities:Provide direct and delegated patient care, recognizing normal and abnormal health indicators to identify at-risk patients. Deliver care aligned with established standards and guidelines.Respond promptly to telephone inquiries, triaging as necessary while offering reassurance, clear education, and guidance to patients.Ensure smooth healthcare service delivery throughout patient visits by maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records. Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.Observe and communicate abnormal patient signs to physicians, documenting findings thoroughly in medical records. Confirm patient understanding of physician instructions upon discharge.Assist physicians with testing, treatments, minor surgeries, and physical exams, including applying splints and dressings. Manage sample medications and maintain related logs.Coordinate patient testing, admissions, referrals, and follow-up on test results, notifying patients accordingly.Distribute educational materials and support patient instruction to ensure comprehension of treatments and medication usage.Perform laboratory tests and maintain laboratory logs as prescribed.Maintain clinical areas by stocking supplies, organizing patient education materials, ensuring cleanliness, and sterilizing instruments and equipment.Perform additional duties as assigned, adapting to evolving responsibilities.Education and Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing Program.This position operates within a healthcare facility located in the Midwest region of the United States, offering a supportive environment for professional growth and patient-centered care.
