Job Title Job Description Evaluates requested test procedure to determine suitability of specimen and requests and/or obtains new specimen if determined to be unusable. Performs clinical laboratory tests on specimens as ordered. Performs and calculates manual cell counts and properly identifies abnormal and normal blood cell populations. Performs microscopic urinalysis procedures to include the proper identification of cells, crystals, casts and other urinary sediment. Processes laboratory specimens for shipment to reference laboratories using acceptable laboratory procedures. Conducts necessary quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures. Operates, calibrates, maintains and troubleshoots all blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology analyzers, in addition to laboratory centrifuges. Performs preliminary steps for instrument setup, function verification and operation for instrumentation.
