NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.\nMEANINGFUL WORK + PERSONAL IMPACT\nAs a SQL Database Administrator, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our IT Technology Development division within the NCIS ITD organization in Quantico, VA.\nAs the SQL DBA Administrator, you will manage all current and planned SQL Server databases that support our customer’s COTS applications. You will also be part of a team of systems administrators managing Windows Server 2016-2019, desktops, and printers. In addition:\nYou will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of these databases. If additional databases are required in the future, the candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing those databases, including database creation, security, access, backup and recovery, and documentation.\nYou must be experienced with applying STIGs to SQL Server databases and be familiar with the impacts on the related applications.\nYou must have excellent documentation skills, and will be responsible for creating related standards, operating procedures, and security documentation.\nDatabase monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and tuning\nPerform administration and management of Microsoft SQL Server 2012-2019 and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services\nFamiliar with SQL Always-on setup and management and Microsoft Failover Clustering\nPerform day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of SQL Server databases.\nPerform database and system performance monitoring and troubleshooting\nDatabase Backup and Recovery\nDevelop, document, and apply procedures for database backup and recovery\nPerform scheduled and nonscheduled database backups and recovery with Microsoft SQL Server SSMS, or SQL CMD\nDatabase Creation\nParticipate in the analysis of database solutions o Responsible for the definition, design, creation, and implementation of a database environment with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security\nSystems Administration\nEvaluate and install new software releases, patches, and system upgrades\nIdentify and troubleshoot system issues\nDevelop, document, and apply procedures for systems backup and recovery\nMay program in an administrative language (PowerShell, VBS, etc.)\nPerform ACAS and SCAP scans and remediation\nAssist Tier 2 help desk with issues elevated to systems administrators\nCreate and update user accounts, perform accounts management in Active Directory\nSecurity and STIGs\nSupport the Certification and Accreditation process - run scans; resolve findings; document solutions, workarounds or provide justifications for exceptions\nDocument, implement, and maintain database security policies in accordance with DISA STIG requirements\nDocumentation\nDefine and oversee database standards, controls, procedures, and documentation\nCreate all documentation required for Release Management Framework (RMF)\nComplete planning and documentation prior to new integration or implementation\nSSIS and PowerBI Reporting Server Administration\nOther SQL DBA duties as assigned\nWHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required):\nBring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT.
